Week of May 28th - June 3rd, 2012 (Nat Avg $3.67)
Since I had not driven the Insight since Friday morning when I got home from work, I decided today would be a good time for a recon run for when I have to get gas after work...sometime late next month. As you can see, neither the car nor I forgot how to act after the extended break. It was 88F and wind was SW@ 15-20 mph with occasional gusts slightly higher at 23 mph. I'm really liking what the possibilities are looking like when the temps stabilize at the normal summer temps. More than half of the route will be the route I take on the way home from work.
122.4 10.3-to station
156.8 10.3-back home (calculated using L/100km-mpg converter...FCD registered 1.5L/100km)
Day Total: 137.5mpg over 20.6 miles. The tank is up to 117.7 over 882.1 miles with 7 of 20 bars on the gauge.

Re: Week of May 28th-June 3rd
Excellent work Larry, put's my efforts to shame!
Did the school run this morning, 68°F, 3UP, first drop off at 2 miles, then 0.6 to next one (20 minute stop) then on to allotment with a load of pepper plants and tomatoes to plant:
59.2 / 3.2
Coming back from allotment 3 hours later, it was quite warm, 73°F:
51.7 / 1.6
Tank up 0.1 to 51.9 / 675.8 / DTE119 Guess gauge on 1.5/14 No low fuel light yet

What kind of average speed are you maintaining?

I'm not sure what the actual average speed is since the gauge I'm using doesn't record that but, in our county there is usually a stop sign every mile. Today's route had two stretches of about 2 miles between stops. I try to stay between 30-37 mph unless the downhill runs are steep enough in which case I either shut the engine off and glide or let the speed build if there is a steep uphill coming. The max speed on county roads in my area is 55 mph unless posted otherwise so I don't have to worry much about speeding. I also use landmarks where I will start engine off glides and try to as close to stopped as possible when I get to the next sign. I'm usually gliding around .5 miles for every mile traveled but there are times when terrain can cut that to 1/4 mile or, allow for a much longer glide. There is one spot on my way to work where I can glide for right at 1 mile with the engine off.

Re : Week of May 28th-June 3rd
Good + bad = average... - 18.4mi @ 76.9mpgUS PR (from 75.8) 17°C=62°F

- 21.0mi @ 64.2mpgUS 26°C=78°F
Day: 39.5mi @ 69.5mpgUS
Tank: 209.9mi @ 69.3mpgUS (+0.1)
Prius' gauge always @ 10pip & SG2's GAS xgauge always @ 110%
To work I used the slow working zone and abused it to gliiide
Back home I tried to avoid another working zone, sadly I had to go through higher traffic zone and I missed a couple turns that made me use some much more hilly roads, so I stayed @ 58-62mpgUS during 20 minutes
Denis.

School is out. I took the good route, with a minor (0.2 mi) detour to vote in the Texas primary.
86.9 mpg / 10.8 mi
The tank is at 84.7 / 312 mi and just below F.

Re: Week of May 28th - June 3rd, 2012 (Nat Avg $3.67)
This mornings run:
home --> work
- 57.0 / 13.1 miles (65F SE@6, roads mostly dry after about 1 inch of rain over night)
FCD down 0.5 to 59.4
Tank:
0.30 gals used
16.8 miles driven
Still over full
Kicking around the idea to take the fit to MN for wedding the weekend of 7/8 instead of the accord. It would really lower the overall fuel econ and with running the AC up an back I am guessing the best i would hope for would be about what the accord can deliver with the same handicaps. about 32-34. Since I would not be hypermilling to much. maybe 65-68 MPH as it is about 10 hours from here
Pro's
Fit is newer and less miles on it
able to use the USB flash drive to listen to music in the dead spots.
Maybe get rid of the flashing engine light about hte fuel trims not being set.
cons
put a lot of miles on it
lower fuel econ
smaller trunk space
Accord more space and comfortable.
Still undecided.

FWIW I'm a big fan of rental cars from major companies for such adventures. Thursday through Monday deals are pretty cheap if you have any sort of discount via your insurance company or corporate affiliation. I can put miles on someone car for less than a $100, for a full size new vehicle. Worst part can be some local taxes like MSP where it is almost as much in tax as it is for a vehicle.
