Jaguar XF Diesel Embarks On U.S. Tour
You can follow the Jaguar duo's progress via the company's Twitter and Facebook accounts.
Viknesh Vijayenthiran - MOTORAUTHORITY - November 8, 2011
What kind of mileage will they get? --Ed.
Perhaps the biggest indication yet that Jaguar may finally be readying its ultra-frugal XF 2.2 Diesel for sale in the U.S. has come this week, with the British luxury brand announcing that one of the oil-burning sedans has embarked on a cross country tour.
This white, British-registered and right-hand drive Jaguar XF 2.2 Diesel departed New York City yesterday with the aim of arriving in Los Angeles, California in seven days’ time--a journey spanning over 2,800 miles and 11 states.
Alternating behind the wheel will be British brothers David and Alexander Madgwick, the same pair that recently drove the car over 816 miles across Europe on a single tank. For their latest U.S. journey, however, a GPS tracking device fitted to the car will relay back information for live updates on Jaguar’s Facebook and Twitter accounts (www.facebook.com/Jaguar or www.twitter.com/Jaguar).
A strictly standard car, the XF 2.2 Diesel was shipped from Jaguar's global headquarters in Whitley, Coventry, making it the first diesel Jaguar to enter the U.S., officially at least.
Jaguar states that the latest project is being run to test the capabilities of the XF, including determining the maximum efficiency of the car. However, we wouldn’t be surprised if it turns out to be a marketing ploy to drum up excitement or least gain feedback for a potential launch of the diesel XF in U.S. showrooms.... [Read More]

Well, Jaguar's British like Chrysler is American. It's now owned by the Indian company Tata Motors.
However, manufacturing is in England (in Coventry).

Top Gear says it's just a bit slower and less economical than the 520d. Wow ! I'd like to drive the 520d. But the Jag is a handsome and capable beast. I want mine in black, please.

I know several people who would just love to own one of these!
I'd just like to test drive one once.

Re: Jaguar XF Diesel Embarks On U.S. Tour
Hi All:
I believe Mike S. said they finished up at > 50 mpg. That was not unexpected however given what any European 2.2L or even 3.0L I6 diesel with twin turbo’s is capable of around these parts

Re: Jaguar XF Diesel Embarks On U.S. Tour
Hopefully they got their reliability issues figured out. We had an 03 JAG x type on a 3 year lease. The thing was towed into the dealer at least 4 times. The day we took it back at lease end, I get on the highway, turned the ac on , then the radio, and the car died. What a piece that thing was. Constant random electrical issues. You couldn't run the radio and rear defrost at the same time, dealer couldn't find why.
Absolutly loved the looks of it and the feel sitting in it. When it ran, it drove great, and cranked it out in the snow being A W D.
Couldn't have been happier at the end of that 3 years. Handed keys to dealer, "do you want to test drive another?". Ahhhhh, NO.
