Ice Vests for us Texas Fellas
While my Texas attempts to BARELY keep FE ahead of of Locutus in Wisconsin will soon prove futile as Wisconsin hits spring, I nevertheless want to avoid the coming AC hit as much as possible. My return trips are now around 80F, and much higher is gonna require AC.
Wayne uses an ice vest, and mentioned the possibility of doing a write up on them at some point. Are they used by anyone else? Any recommendations on what & how to purchase?
I don't find anything on ebay. Some brief google research only yields high performance athlete ice vests in the $150-$200 range, and I sure would prefer a less sleek, functional, used one for $50 or so if it can be found.
Thanks in advance for any information.

Hi Mparrish:
___Remind me before the week is out to bring one home for the weekend to take some pics and do a quick write up if you could please. An Ice-Vest is what should be considered std. and mandatory equipment with the same importance as an SG-II or pressed up Integrity’s, SP20 FE’s, B381’s, RE92’s, Conti FE’s, or Michelin MXV4 + Energy’s for a Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas or Arizona based hypermiler in the heat of summer!
___Good Luck
___Wayne

Re: Ice Vests for us Texas Fellas
I'm an ultra-cheapie on a super-tight budget, so I was thinking of making an ice vest. Perhaps I could visit my local Wal-mart and buy some of those freezy things made for coolers and sew some pockets in a vest.
I'd be curious to find the most efficient placement for my freezies.
I've also had an idea for years of building an icecube powered auto cooler out of an old heater core, a blower, a water pump and reservoir.
The vest would be much easier.

I'm motivated to find out about Batman villian Mr. Freeze - how did he keep cool?
Oh - remember who played Mr. Freeze in the movie Batman and Robin?

Re: Ice Vests for us Texas Fellas
just make one out of duck tape and cooler packs. No need for sewing actual pockets or for a vest at all for that matter
And the duck tape will probably outlast fabric anyway
I would guess upper chest would be the most effective. or maybe just gloves or feet since it will draw the heat to the extremeties. Maybe the head... Humm, anyone know anything about anatomy? I don't have a clue

This reminds me, I used to run outside in the heat and remember I bought an ice-collar gadget that goes around your neck. Never used it...gotta look for it.
