American Ethanol Creates Jobs And Strengthens Our Economy

With the passage of this legislation, Americans will continue to have an alternative to foreign oil in clean-burning, renewable ethanol.

Tom Buis - IMPERIALVALLEYNEWS - Dec 24, 2010

Aside from his math, what about it's effect on lawn mowers, boats and water supply? --Ed.

Washington, DC - American Ethanol Creates Jobs and Strengthens Our Economy: Every year, we send $1,000 for every man, woman and child in the United States to foreign countries, many of them unfriendly to Americanvalues and American priorities.

That is the cost of our addiction to foreign oil: from $350 to $400 billion drained out of our economy annually. At a time when every job counts, when every dollar is hard-fought, Congress should be pursuing goalsthat encourage the expansion of alternatives to foreign oil – like American ethanol.

Last year, the production of domestic ethanol eliminated the need to import at least 364 million barrels of oil. That alone kept $21.3 billion in the U.S. economy, instead of sending it overseas. That helped the American ethanol industry create and support 400,000 jobs in this country.... [Read More]

But... Corn ethanol consumes more fossil fuel in its production than it offsets in its consumption. All ethanol does is make the billionaires at ADM even richer while at the same time destroying our cars, boars, scooters, lawn misers, chain saws, etc.

If a foreign power contaminated our nation's fuel supply, it would be an act of war. But here in the USA, the government PAYS billionaire CEOs to wreck our fuel supply and wreck our machines. Go figure!

Not quite, I believe the total energy ratio is 1.3:1, yes it consumes fossil fuel but that happens to be US mined coal and NG used for process heat and very little diesel for the trucks. Essentially a CTL, GTL plus solar power process to make liquid fuel. If you sited an ethanol plant near a power production plant you could get huge savings by using the free process heat available.

Substitution of almost 1 million of barrels of oil per day is a huge number, basically it provides a buffer in the supply of oil and keeps the prices stable. I believe that when that buffer drops to less than a daily production of 2 million barrels is when you get in trouble.

Re: American Ethanol Creates Jobs And Strengthens Our Economy

This ethanol story is nothing but a ' look pretty ' ad for the industry. Ethanol use needs to be stopped, not enlarged. The crap is harmful and wasteful. Corn farmers can make the same money or more by selling corn for food use. Half the World is starving. Why don't we sell some more overseas?????
No corn in my gas tank. Spend the dollars developing better transmissions, motors, batteries, etc. Not to give some executive a bigger bonus because his buddies are giving tax dollars to his company.

The majority of the corn grown in the US is used for livestock so going vegan would help the most

Sterilize yourself before you have any kids, go vegan.. and ride a bike. Try not to breathe too deeply may also help.

Please make more civil posts than "live completely off the grid and consider suicide."

I did not see anything Butterfly Mage said to bring that remark on.

Besides, BM won't have to be sterilized to avoid having children.
