gopoint technology Golink or scangauge II
I am saving my pennies for a scangauge II but someone just told me about Golink. It's compatible with Iphone and Itouch. Obviously an Itouch can do a lot more then a scan gauge but I'm just talking the OBDII and fuel economy here.
Here is a screenshot of the mpg readout I found on a toyota forum.
More info here on amazon. I guess it's new and not much about it yet.

I'm not sure if I want to get this now or the proven scangauge.

Interesting. The site for this is light on functional details. I'm curious about it but not willing to spend $100 to find out if it works as advertised and offers the same flexibility as the ScanGauge. I'll have to check out the app listing and reviews to see what else it might do (I too have an iPhone).

What do you do that they would email you about it?
One person on another forum purchased this and it is not working on his 95 infiniti G20 ECU. I really want a scan gauge but the dated display and the fact that it's not multipurpose is bugging me. I wouldn't mind a GPS/scangauge type device or a Ipod touch/scangauge in one.
If anyone has any more info on this please post up.

I wasn't able to glean much from the iTunes App Store description.
Isn't this device for '96 and newer vehicles, just like the ScanGauge?

It is OBDII compatible. Most devices just use the year 1996 because that is the year OBDII became standard. There are plenty of companies that did it in 1995 and these devices work. Actually infiniti implemented OBDII in 1994. I personally have seen OBDII scan devices work on 94-95 vear infiniti's.

Re: gopoint technology Golink or scangauge II
Actually, before I got the scangauges, I used a Bluetooth dongle that connected to OBD-II port and sent similar information to my Windows mobile and Palm devices. It worked pretty good especially if I wanted to perform some data logging too (something SG does not do yet)
Several things I did not like about that setup when compared to the current SG-II setup:
- It was a hassle to always have to mount and launch the app. That meant always having the blue tooth radio on which is a drag on the battery too.
- Glare, glare, glare... especially if you mount it in the light of sight. The SG is almost never hit by glare.
- Someone calls or I want to use another app and I had to fiddle with the phone, making it unsafe for driving.
- Use your own navigation software on your Phone? Well, that will mean only one app will control the screen.
- Despite the prettier graphics, the limited configurability on the part of some apps when compared to the SG-II is something I do not miss.
- My wife does not use my phone, so she will not have that extra advantage that a SG-II affords her. Yes, among other things, she uses it to determine when to turn the heat up in the winter.
Cheers;
MSantos

I was actually the product tester for a similar iphone app. Our product is no where near complete, nor do I think it will be complete as the head honcho got another job.
