Sad poetic justice

I was driving home on the Cali 210 freeway when what appeared to be a green mercury sable comes down the right lane where I am. He has plenty of space to pass me, but instead sees fit to do business as usual and tailgate. He's there for about 2 minutes before roaring past me, and I could feel his eyes drilling holes into my skull.

This happens to me so often that I truly don't pay attention anymore, but right before I am going to take my exit, the traffic suddenly starts stopping, FAST! Fortunately my exit was right at the beginning of the jam and so I took it as everyone started screeching to a halt from their usual 80mph.

I look over at the stopped traffic to see if I can catch what caused it, and whaddya know: the same green car that had tailgated me before was just in a accident, and was being pushed off to the side of the road by what appeared to be the driver to enable traffic to pass.

Sadly, had he just been a little bit less pressed for time and less of a wanton driver, he might have avoided being in that situation.

I bet he's really going to remember me now, and if ever he does come across my car again, I hope he gleans a good lesson from his accident instead of venting it on me perhaps.

Re: Sad poetic justice

Its a shame you didn't show and give evidence against him.

Makes my idiot last night just look simple. The road is a little crooked, but its really just a basic T intersection with the top of the T having no stop and the perpendicular road having a stop. Girl & maybe her boyfriend stopped, then started going & almost hit me & my wife. I didn't see it, but my wife said the girl looked like she was screaming at us....when she was the one not paying attention. She must have thought it a 3 way or thought the "straight" line was the road she was on. Like I said, simple.

California drivers in general suck. But I'd have to say they are better in San Diego than in the San Francisco bay area. I can be doing 55 on the freeway with a PSL of 65 without getting honked at.

They drive a lot like North Texans.

Re: Sad poetic justice

You can always call the local police and tell them what you saw and what his behavior was prior to the accident. That is sometimes relevant in whatever cases develop especially if the guy in the green car want to claim the other car was at fault and there is no one there to say something else was going on. It may come back to bite him if he were to say he had been driving the speed limit all day and the accident was the other fellow fault. Your word that contradicts some of what he says can go a long way in helping the other driver.

In that same vain I had a friend who actually witnessed and accident but could not stay. When he call the police an hour later they were glad to hear from him as the guy who was clearly at fault had claimed otherwise.

There was also a case at work where someone was making a left turn into the complex and got broadsided. She could not remember enough and thought she was a fault given what the other driver said. But the insurance companies were a bit smarter and we all got an email asking if anyone had seen the accident. Where the witnesses came forward it turned out that the woman had been turning on a green arrow and the guy who hit her had run the red light.
