Canadian Newbie

Greetings to y'all
What a GREAT site! Just to give you a little background here - I'm a 50+ yr old IT administrator in Southern Ontario with a 40KM commute (return). 3 vehicle:
2002 Olds Alero - 2.2l 4 cyl auto. 28mpg avg combined (till now!)
1997 Ford Aerostar - 3.0l V6 Auto - 21mpg avg combined (till now!)
2006 Raleigh Tarrantula 21 speed - 40km / cheeseburger & Beer
- being a Cannuck - all mpg are Imperial

Weather permitting, the Raleigh is the preferred method of commuting. This year has sucked, so I drive the Alero mostly.

Goals:
Get the avg mileage on the Alero up to 40mpg
Get the avg mpg of the Aerostar up to 25mpg
Get the Raleigh up to 50 km / cheesebuger & beer

I think all these are do-able with the excellent methods described on this site, although if the weather doesn't break soon the last one will be the most difficult to attain!

Any and all suggestions greatfully accepted, especially if they involve ways to train my wife that the gas peddle has more than 2 positions - up, and on the floor!

Derrick

Re: Canadian Newbie

Hi Derrick, and a big welcome to CleanMPG.

A good place to start will be to read the CleanMPG's "best seller": Beating the EPA - The Why’s and how to Hypermile.

Cheers;

MSantos

Re: Canadian Newbie

Welcome to the club.

Make sure those tires are aired up to the max sidewall psi. This is an easy step to immediately improve mileage.
