Re: Whats stopping me from importing a car from overseas or Canada into the U.S.?

Yep, I sure did... Importing a car will empty your bank account quicker then a bad crack habit.

Theres a number of ways to get non-compliant cars into the US. I brought a car in that just qualified...

Re: Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution

Welcome to CleanMPG. I tried to squeeze an extra MPG or two out of a standard WRX I owned a couple of years ago but it was hard to stay out of the loud pedal. I then traded it for a new (at the time)...

Re: Newbie~ 1991 Mazda 323 question

The 323 is a great car. It shares it's platform with loads of Ford/Mazda/Kia vehicles (323, Protege, Escort, Tracer, Sephia), and a derivative of the basic engine (single and twin cam) has been in...

Re: CleanMPG Exclusive: Tanker Drafting

Years ago we used to call them a "New Jersey Credit Card". They always looked the same to, a red plastic bulb with a thin opaque rigid down tube that has an angle cut on the end, and an opaque...

Re: CleanMPG Exclusive: Tanker Drafting

As amazing and fantastic as it sounds, I'm not buying it... There are too many obstacles to overcome to make the small amount of fuel you could steel worth the effort. The head pressure alone at the...

Re: Start-Up Claims to Convert Any Car into a Hybrid

True, it's not much power but if you're on slippery stuff, and forget to disarm the retrofitted hybrid system, and it kicks in, then the fun will really start.

I have swapped a couple of...

Re: Hello from a SAABer

Welcome bkrell,

Years ago before buying my Insight, a 2005 Subaru WRX was my daily driver, I made a couple of mods to it when I tried to squeeze maximum MPG out of it. Obviously this was before I...

Re: Start-Up Claims to Convert Any Car into a Hybrid

I think this is a really fantastic idea. I see one minor flaw with it though. I wonder if the designers have considered the issue of possible loss of traction on the newly driven wheels. If say...

Re: Driver roadkills dog, then Sues Owners

Huh? Thats not what I read.
I've hit and killed two animals in my life. One was a large deer, and another was an average sized dog. Both I drove away from (amazingly). I hit and killed the deer when...

Coming from the performance world where octane is key to maximum ICE output especially under forced induction applications, high octane numbers in engines not...

Re: Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hybrid

With all due respect Robert, I do not agree. Gas from the same station irregardless of octane rating will have the same detergents etc. Unless your engines are designed/tuned to require higher octane...

Re: Driver roadkills dog, then Sues Owners

100% - TOTAL AGREEMENT!! The owner of the pet is 100% liable for damages. Going one step further, the speed the car was traveling is irrelevant, the dog should have been under control. It's a shame...

Re: Start-Ups Race to Produce 'Green' Cars

It could be an exciting time in the automotive industry, and for consumers. Provided big automotive companies don't try to shut the little guys down. Examples of small (cutting edge at the time)...

Re: Danger, Danger - Will Robinson!!! Hypermiling!!!

Wayne did a nice job as usual, but it is a nonsense story. There is no intro, they do not drive a point home, and they have no closure. Very amateurish..

Dave

Re: Airlines slow down flights to save on fuel

I think they should bring back airships so we can all just saunter about the place. We’d save fuel and reduce a bunch of stress..
