Re: Unexplained dropoff in FE

Actually, it wasn't normal. It was falling faster than normal....another consequence of the battery problem was the engine was taking longer to warm up, which is why my FE was absolutely sucking on...

Re: Is the era of easy credit over for the long haul?

Just five months ago, when I bought my car, I was told I didn't need a down payment (what a difference a few months makes). I had just gotten my annual bonus at work and planned to use that as a...

Re: Unexplained dropoff in FE

:Banane45: It was the battery. Got someone to give me a jump start and I took it to the dealership and got the battery replaced under warranty. They told me it probably never had a good charge to...

Re: Unexplained dropoff in FE

I have an automatic, so I don't FAS. I do turn off the car at some of the longer lights (there's this one particular intersection about 1/4 from my home that can be 2-3 minutes for a red light). ...

Re: Unexplained dropoff in FE

So on the one hand, we have our hallelujah moment and the light finally dawning on my problem because my car wouldn't start this morning.

On the other hand, I have work to do and I should have been...

Re: Unexplained dropoff in FE

No, it was for FordMan, who suggested I ask the dealer to look at the car for factory defects, because I posted another thread on Saturday about my first oil change and the dealer fighting me over...

Re: Unexplained dropoff in FE

Yes....and the same one I have to go see this morning because my battery is deader than the dead voters in Chicago and the battery brain doesn't work either. Would the battery going bad cause issues...

Re: Unexplained dropoff in FE

I usually do too, but the way my FE numbers were crashing, I probably would have been down to 20 MPG by the time the fuel light had come on.

Re: Unexplained dropoff in FE

I've been hypermiling since the end of May, when the car had 900 miles on it and was a month old - my mileage stats are in my sig image. I'm currently getting the kind of FE numbers I was getting...

Re: Unexplained dropoff in FE

I always fill up at the same station and everything here is 10% blended - I think I'd have to go 2 counties away to find something that isn't.

Re: Unexplained dropoff in FE

No, it doesn't change when the engine is off. That was with the engine on (since I knew it was going to be a short light).

Re: Unexplained dropoff in FE

I see the coolant temp setting (or coolant/water), but I must be missing something, because I don't see anything in the book that indicates what setting is intake air temp. SG settings are fine -...

Re: Unexplained dropoff in FE

No, the tank is 11.9 gallons capacity. If I ever have to put 11.9 gallons in it, I would be driving on fumes. When I filled up on 3 Oct, I put 9.361 gallons in the tank after having driven 363.8...

Re: Unexplained dropoff in FE

Not that I can really tell on the instantaneous. Don't know about gph consumption - it's not a gauge that I use (there just are not enough on the SG!). But I did notice at a stop light this morning...

Re: Unexplained dropoff in FE

I see your point, but it has nothing to do with individual trip readings during the tank in question.

Re: Unexplained dropoff in FE

It is a simple statement of fact to say I already answered all those questions in my original statement. Nothing more, nothing less.

And the FE drop off happened before the oil change, so nothing...

Re: Unexplained dropoff in FE

The car is 5 1/2 months old. I haven't had a tune up because it's not due for many thousands of miles (I'm just under 4000). The oil change was done mid tank, about a week after I noticed the...

Unexplained dropoff in FE

I'm having a problem (completely unrelated to and predating the oil change by about a week, for you naysayers from the other thread) and I have no clue what happened.

I filled up, after my second...

Re: Problems getting an oil change

For those poo-hooing synthetic, what happened to "Beating the EPA"?

Quote - "Oil types and amounts are another important key to higher FE . A proper amount of low kinematic viscosity oil can do...

Problems getting an oil change

:mad:I went for my first oil change in my new car today. Even though my Hyundai dealership offers the first oil change free, I was willing to pay for synthetic oil. There's where the trouble began....

Re: Week of September 22nd- September 28th (Nat Avg: $3.74)

Despite waking up sick this morning, I managed to make my planned trip to Rockwall this morning. 45MPG on the way there (34.8 miles), 44MPG on the way back (35.8 miles - had to divert a bit to get...

Re: When is a status level assigned?

My 2008 Hyundai Accent also does not meet the 1.2 adjustment factor. 2007 ratings were 28/37, 32.5 combined. 2008 ratings are 24/33, 28.5 combined. 28.5X1.2 = 34.2. The adjustment factor for the...

Here's my example - I didn't know how all this worked either until I got a clinic. Set one of the gauges of your GAUGE screen on the ScanGauge to LP and monitor. Closed means fuel is flowing. Open...

Re: Week of September 15th- September 21st (Nat Avg: $3.88)

I filled up yesterday and I'm showing MUCH better numbers now (defaulted my ScanGauge after the last fillup), but the adjustment was 45%. Oh well....

This morning, 33MPG, 4.6 miles to work. I...
