Re: Hypermilers Laughing All the Way to the Bank, Pump

Well it's delightful now that the weather in NE OH is consistently in the hi 50's and climbing, to get regular 31+ mpg in my conventional AWD Subie. Compared with the EPA's 24, I'm happy!

Praise God for the glorious Gift only He could give us! And Mike, thank you for posting that first acclamation for the real meaning of Christmas Day and the true Christmas spirit. My wife gets so...

Re: I got pulled over

I love the DRL's on my WRX. Obviously they add visibility for safety. When it's dusk or pre-dawn and without them I'd need headlights to be seen, I turn on the parking lights for dash visibility...

Re: GM Plugs Its Chevy Volt Hybrid, but Will It Be Road-Ready In Time?

Seems to me rather than blindly toss money at the car corporations, the government ought to fund heavy-duty research and development of the battery and control systems to get this car out the door in...

Re: Does the A/C go on when you choose defog, but the fan is at 0?

As have most newer vehicles. The question that seems to have variable answers is whether the A/C will run at very low ambient temps. Mine (according to the owner's manual) in all cars I've owned...

Re: Escalade Hybrid rates as absurd

The most ridiculous ad I've heard of late is that the hybrid Escalade gets better city EPA MPG than a Mini Cooper...SERIOUSLY!

Re: Does the A/C go on when you choose defog, but the fan is at 0?

With the fan at 0 (off), I'd be surprised if any vehicle a/c compressor would be on, simply because, no matter the temperature, there is not enough air movement most of the time to prevent the...

Re: Hypermilers complete new Guinness verified World Record at 68.54mpg (US)!

All three and all who helped and supported you deserve praise and congratulations. Now we need to be sure this gets publicized in the MSM. I like the idea of a book as well; why not just...

Re: Trip Odometer Random Reset

Did the Trip B reset? Can you recover your mileage by using the full odo? I know I occasionally lose or forget to write the trip number on the gas receipt and have to squeeze it out of the full odo...

Re: Favorite maneuver for tailgaters...

In wet and snowy weather, moving to the shoulder a bit throws all sorts of junk (salt, slush, fine gravel) into their windshield. That usually makes them back off.

Re: ScanGaugeII Calibration Worksheet

The only problem I've had with this is by the time I get home after filling and make the spreadsheet entries to calibrate, I lose about 4 miles of data on the tank, since changing the calibration...

Remember too, CEO's report to: Stockholders! Short-term prices of shares of the Big 3 have only tanked recently; this model worked for them until the past summer.

Re: So What is Hypermiling Worth Anyway?

Thus, be fanatical--not that there's anything wrong with that! (Provided you're not a hazard to others...) Pre-hypermiling, my ~24 mpg average was gained by normal driving habits--not jackrabbiting,...

Smile Re: So What is Hypermiling Worth Anyway?

Thirty percent! 32 mpg vs 24 mpg. At $4/gal, I'm paying an adjusted $2.80. Now that it's closer to 1.50/gal, I'm still saving .45 so I'm paying $1.05 adjusted. On a 14.5 gal fillup, I'm saving about...

Re: New Kia Rio5!

LOL! I'm sure you will, Dixonge. If I use the turbo, I use the gas-oh! I'm still looking for a 32 mpg tank! May have to wait till spring now, here in OH, with the Blizzaks on and the temps...

Re: Why AAA Hates Hypermilers

Well, they'll need something to boost membership; it certainly won't be because of good service. Last summer we waited over 3 1/2 hours for help changing a flat tire in a van (1 of 2) helping carry...
