Are Hybrid Cars Good for Us?

I haven't been around in a while - I miss you guys. This article made me think of CleanMPG and the pervasive ideals that American culture has about fuel-efficient vehicles. Enjoy!...

Re: My Yaris got hit again *sigh*

Ugh - it pains me to see this. People need to take a hands-on driver-refreshment course about parking if they are going to hit an object that is not moving. Hope the fix is quick and he doesn't pull...

Re: Week of February 25th Through March 2nd (U.S. National Average $3.10)

42.4 MPG, LFL @ 475 miles, tank is currently at 495 miles. Should be a 550+ mile tank. :)

Re: My First "Traffic Stop"

Great story, Father John! While I have had a few traffic stops from my pre-hypermiling days, the brushes with the law I've had while hypermiling were a few impatient cops not enjoying my coasting....

Re: Week of February 4th - February 10th, 2008

Also - an update. Recently the girlfriend switched from a premium gas-guzzling Oldsmobile Aurora to a fuel-sipping Toyota Corolla CE 5-speed. She's gotten quite excited about the fuel savings, and...

Gah! Car trouble today! :x

Turned off the engine at a light, and when I went to restart . . . craziness. The sound of sizzling electricity, gauge sweep, and no engine turnover. You can imagine my...

Re: My Fav Super Bowl Commercial

That was a good one.

Personally, I enjoyed the GM add for their hybrid behemoth getting "50% more gas mileage!" :(

Marketing is child's play. This is the work of Beelzebub.

Tank is at 220 miles and 44.5 MPG. Weather is beautiful, with lows in the mid 60's and highs in the 80's. Literally, beach weather. ;)

Re: Week of January 28th - February 2nd, 2008

Looks to be a good tank. 400 miles and 43.1 MPG on the DIS. A trip home and back helped out some, but rainy weather and traffic jams hampered hypermiling efforts noticeably.

Re: Week of January 21st - January 27th, 2008

A 25 mile run down the expressway helped secure 46+ MPG for this tank so far. Tank is now at 80 miles and 45.7 MPG.

Re: Fuel Consumption per Week?

I use anywhere from 3-4 gallons a week (120-170 miles), and 80 of those miles include commuting to and from work. If I didn't go anywhere else but work, a tank of fuel could last over a month and a...
