Re: '13 C-Max Energi

It's rare to have two sons that never got into trouble, bring home straight A's and does what you ask him. My oldest son graduated from MIT with a 4.7 GPA, and became a self made millionaire by 26....

Re: '13 C-Max Energi

Hi Carl

There is a OEM HVAC gauge that gives instant KW's being used by the A/C and I monitored it for awhile. I pretty much know not to cool a heat soaked cabin unless I don't have time to ...

Re: '13 C-Max Energi

Got my $775 check from Ford today for overestimating the EPA rating on my 2013 C-Max Energi. The revised EPA went from 42mpg to 38mpg, and MPGe went from 100 to 88mpge. I'm at 408mpg and 123MPGe...

Re: DOG/cat FLEAS- best "flea killer"

Look Charlie, the cats may need the same hair cut this summer. Stop with the chemicals and cut off their hair also. If you're worried about sunburn, put some sunscreen on those pets. Run those fleas...

Re: DOG/cat FLEAS- best "flea killer"

Most of the chemicals are bad for the dog and cause cancer. I had a problem a year ago and finally cut my dogs hair real short with electric hair clippers. That has worked on my dogs because the...

Re: '13 C-Max Energi

I had my windows tinted last year, and it helped keep the interior cooler. I got a windshield screen to block out the heat further when I park for the Energi, but what a pain that was to put it up...

Re: Ford Lowers mpg Ratings on 6 Vehicles By Up to 8 mpg

It is my understanding they will because of how far off the EPA estimates they were (47/47/47).

I'm about to pull the trigger on another new '15 C-Max Energi for my son. No question my '09 FEH beat...

Re: Oil change..??

The '08 FEH has the 2.3L engine that will drain the oil just fine on ramps. It takes 4.5 quarts of oil with a change. If they put 5.0 quarts, expect lower MPG.

Re: Oil change..??

My bet it's both the oil and the gas. First of all, the 2.5L engine has to be level when draining the old oil. My '09 FEH 2.5L on front ramps left over a quart of old oil in the top of the engine, so...

Re: '13 C-Max Energi

I've used 14.9 gallons of gas in 5513.7 miles since my Energi rolled off the assembly line one year ago. I'm still on the dealer's gas because I drove to Opopka to pick it up at that Mullinax...

Re: New Volt

There are two modes in my Energi, for stale gas (18 months old) and oil maintenance mode. Stale gas mode requires the engine to run till one gallon is left. I don't think that's Rick's problem now....

Re: Help with tire selection.

I look at the max sidewall pressure rating, the lightest tires, and if they are LRR tires. The Hankook tires on my Explorer went 52,000 miles on the front, and I expect 90,000 miles out of the rear...

Re: '13 C-Max Energi

Anytime you change octane or ethanol content, even from E0 to E10, your long term fuel maps must adjust the air/fuel mixtures to that gas quality. Engine load at every RPM is mapped out and stored in...

Re: '13 C-Max Energi

I would not even pay 77 cents a gallon more to Big Oil for clean gas except for my lawn tools. Ethanol is a scam, but so is charging more for straight gas. I'd rather plug-in, but if that becomes...

Re: '13 C-Max Energi

It turned out that the dealer could not turn on the fuel pump with his computer, so he couldn't pump out the gas. It was no charge for trying so nothing lost but our time.

My wife wanted to take...

Re: '13 C-Max Energi

Not only does the Energi have a cap-less system, it has a sealed gas tank. When you push the gas button below the Nav system, the PCM activates a vacuum pump to purge the gas vapors in the tank and...

Re: '13 C-Max Energi

There is a charge for the dealer to drain the tank for less than an hour or $100. I will get ~10 gal of E10 the dealer already paid for at delivery. That's about $35 in gas for my Explorer.

It...

Re: '13 C-Max Energi

That's strange unless the manual calls for a minimum of 87 octane like the Highlander Hybrid.

Re: '13 C-Max Energi

It would be fine for the Volt that recommends a higher octane, but it will reduce MPG in the Energi. I have used higher octane by mistake in Ford hybrids that call for 87 octane, and the results has...

Re: '13 C-Max Energi

Good advise for the future, but the 87 octane you get here is E10. The only non-ethanol here is for marine and that's 90 octane. The Energi uses 87 octane, so I might as well just add one gallon at a...
