Re: Johnson Controls 12V AGMs Making Inroads

I've never seen that. I got 6 2/3rds years out of my last motorcycle battery and longer than that out of car batteries. Living in the frozen north helps battery life ;)

Re: Johnson Controls 12V AGMs Making Inroads

The OEM battery in my '07 Prius is still working. I carry a little Black & Decker jump starter for that day it won't boot up the Prius. I'll see how many years I can get out of the OEM.

Re: From Auto Start to the Windshield Wiper, It’s all about the Microprocessor

Late-model BMW motorcycles use "Canbus" wiring systems.

This has more information than you really want to know, but here it is:

Re: New pay-per-mile scheme would boost taxes 250 percent

Nonsense. It's not just about damage to roads and bridges. Last time I checked, 2012 was the hottest year on record. It's about time we all showed some concern about global warming/climate change....

Re: New pay-per-mile scheme would boost taxes 250 percent

I agree. I am doing all I can to reduce my consumption of fuel and reduce my CO2 emissions. A per mile road usage tax ignores all of my efforts and essentially punishes me for spending the extra...

Re: Whoops—'Cash for Clunkers' Actually Hurt the Environment

It should have been a program to trade in a gas-hog for a fuel-efficient model, period.

It wasn't, so it was a bureaucratic exercise in stupidity.

Re: VWs Going CNG and Biomethane in Germany in a Big Way

Not entirely...I am a vegetarian at breakfast and lunch, at least most days. I never have meat with breakfast and only rarely at lunch.

Re: VWs Going CNG and Biomethane in Germany in a Big Way

We already do too much of that in the US. Cows and cattle are a huge source of methane, another greenhouse gas.

I'll have my usual peanut butter sandwich on multigrain bread for lunch today. ...

Re: Consumer Reports – Prius Tops the List

Form follows function.

The Prius looks fine to me, especially as I cruise past the pumps.

Re: Toyota Takes another Hit on IIHS’ New Small Overlap Crash Tests

All this work on improving cars, and absolutely none on improving drivers.

A bit out of balance, to put it mildly?

Re: Why Global Fuel Prices Will Spark the Next Revolutions

We are subsidizing gasoline in the US. The tax revenues from gasoline are only about 2/3 of what it costs to build and maintain our roads and bridges, and we aren't even keeping up with that.

Re: New Touring Bike From BMW - 2013 F 800 GT

Wayne,

I expect to be retired by then, with lots of time on my hands...

I am also planning on test riding the F800GT. Hmmm...

Have you ridden New England? Got a passport for Canada?

Re: New Touring Bike From BMW - 2013 F 800 GT

The F800ST was appealing, but the riding position for me was a bit extreme: too much bend in the knees, a little too much weight on the wrists. The new F800GT now appears to be a feasible touring...

Re: Texas: 12 Uninterrupted Years of Daily Fatalities on Its Roadways

The most effective safety feature in a car is a highly skilled defensive driver. People seem to want to forget that, in favor of simplified solutions like armoring up with oversized vehicles.

Re: Major Changes in BMW's new R1200GS
