Re: '13 C-Max Energi

Anytime you change octane or ethanol content, even from E0 to E10, your long term fuel maps must adjust the air/fuel mixtures to that gas quality. Engine load at every RPM is mapped out and stored in...

Re: '13 C-Max Energi

I would not even pay 77 cents a gallon more to Big Oil for clean gas except for my lawn tools. Ethanol is a scam, but so is charging more for straight gas. I'd rather plug-in, but if that becomes...

Re: '13 C-Max Energi

It turned out that the dealer could not turn on the fuel pump with his computer, so he couldn't pump out the gas. It was no charge for trying so nothing lost but our time.

My wife wanted to take...

Re: '13 C-Max Energi

Not only does the Energi have a cap-less system, it has a sealed gas tank. When you push the gas button below the Nav system, the PCM activates a vacuum pump to purge the gas vapors in the tank and...

Re: '13 C-Max Energi

There is a max 20,000 mile two year requirement to change the engine oil. However, there is a "Oil Maintenance Mode" (OMM) where the computer counts cold starts, oil temperature, length of time the...

Re: '13 C-Max Energi

There is a charge for the dealer to drain the tank for less than an hour or $100. I will get ~10 gal of E10 the dealer already paid for at delivery. That's about $35 in gas for my Explorer.

It...

Re: '13 C-Max Energi

That's strange unless the manual calls for a minimum of 87 octane like the Highlander Hybrid.

Re: '13 C-Max Energi

It would be fine for the Volt that recommends a higher octane, but it will reduce MPG in the Energi. I have used higher octane by mistake in Ford hybrids that call for 87 octane, and the results has...

Re: '13 C-Max Energi

Good advise for the future, but the 87 octane you get here is E10. The only non-ethanol here is for marine and that's 90 octane. The Energi uses 87 octane, so I might as well just add one gallon at a...

Re: '13 C-Max Energi

Last Thursday, I went by my dealer to check if there was a way to drain my gas tank before the gas goes stale. I still have ~12 gal from the original dealer fill and it doesn't look like I'll burn...

Re: '13 C-Max Energi

An update on my EV range in the Energi. My temperature here in Jupiter FL is fantastic now and I no longer need the A/C. My best trip during the summer was a 33.9 EV range on a single charge. The EPA...

Re: '13 C-Max Energi

A Ford representative has answered my question and said the new 0W-20 '14 C-Max oil is not approved for the '13 C-Max. I'd stick with approved 5W-20 to maintain your engine warranty.

On a good note,...

Re: Charger 'rage' big problem

I think SAP must have security on site that could issue parking warnings and fines if the plug-ins are not move after charged in a reasonable amount of time. You could also have a sign-in log for...

Re: '13 C-Max Energi

When you use the HVAC while plugged-in, you increase your lifetime KWh and decrease your lifetime MPGe. On a normal city trip, my MPGe has got as high as 191MPGe where my lifetime is only 120.3MPGe...

Re: '13 C-Max Energi

Varnish caused my '09 valve to seize also. Under warranty, they replaced a valve and spring. The Energi has a fresh gas and oil protection system, but the E10 will go bad long before (18 months) the...

Re: '13 C-Max Energi

The key is not letting the car sit for any long periods of time. My rotors look shinny new because the last 6mph of stopping is pure rotors and pads. In other words, there is no regen below 6mph.

Re: '13 C-Max Energi

Rick - I assume the lifetime MPG was removed on all models that had it.

Congratulations on your new ride!

Ford removed the lifetime MPG on the C-Max around July of this year for some reason. When was yours built?
