The auto industry has traditionally been male-dominated but Honda has rolled out a new model it claims to have specifically designed with women in mind.

The new Honda Fit She’s is a pretty-in-pink version of the maker’s familiar subcompact that offers a few niceties the maker believes will specifically appeal to distaff buyers, such as a windshield designed to block skin-wrinkling ultraviolet rays.

Pretty sure my wife would hate that. Actually, that's an understatement. She would sooner drive a quad cab F-150 than a pink Fit with lips on the grill and agrammatic feminine reference in the name.

The standard laminated glass windshields block UV below ~370nm. The laminate polyvinyl butyral (PVB) blocks the UV. The tempered glass side windows are the ones that let the UV through with typical UV transmission of ~48%, adding tint can knock that down ~8%.

You can always pay for a custom paint job.

My wife doesn't like pink, so definitely wouldn't go for it and I doubt the brown one that's coming out also wouldn't appeal.

But, the model's on sale in Japan and Japan's a place with some serious oddities in their culture. Of course, in Japan the Prius is the top selling car and they can buy hybrid minivans so I don't think we should be too quick to judge.
