Subaru September 2012 Sales up 32.2%

The ungainly Outback continues to sell and sell and sell.

Wayne Gerdes - CleanMPG - Oct. 2, 2012

2013 AWD Subaru Outback - $23,495 to start and a poor 24/30 mpgUS city/highway rating in its most fuel efficient trim and engine.

In April of this year, Subaru introduced the 2013 Outback powered by what they called at the time a more efficient powertrain. In addition, the company improved ride and handling along with offering new audio/infotainment options.

To go much further into the 2.5L Boxer engine with a 30 mpgUS highway rating at best is ridiculous so I will skip it. If only Subaru could improve the Outback to match their 36 mpgUS highway rated AWD Impreza? Then we would have something to talk about :(

Subaru September Sales Results

Subaru reported September sales of 27,683 vehicles for the month of September, a 32.2 percent increase over September 2011. The company also reported year-to-date sales of 245,463, which represents a 25.5 percent increase over 2011.

September sales for recently refreshed Outback and Legacy models have increased 39 percent and 31 percent respectively over September 2011. Also, September sales for Impreza were up 211 percent over September 2011; year-to-date sales for Impreza have increased 155 percent.

With strong sales momentum this and no foreseeable production delays causing a supply disruptions, Subaru could exceed 300,000 vehicle sales according to one of the Execs and placing 300k on the board in the most competitive marketplace on earth means somebody at Subaru is doing something right.

Re: Subaru September 2012 Sales up 32.2%

Although the Outback is a petro-pig (and exemplifies why I no longer buy Subarus) I can sure see why it's popular. Especially now that it got so enormous in the current gen, a lot of people buying them are downsizing from minivans and midsized SUVs. To them it's a real sipper.
