Most people waiting up to 10 years to buy a new car
Few things in life can lift your spirits, however temporarily, like a new car.![]() People aren't going to buy cars every two or three years anymore, an automotive website says based on an unscientific poll it conducted online. Now, 78% of the more than 4,000 people polled by AutoMD.com says they will keep their cars at least 10 years. "What is most compelling is that longer ownership has become an embedded habit for car owners, regardless of what the economy does," said Brian Hafer, a vice president at AutoMD.com. "This significant lengthening of the ownership cycle looks like it is here to stay."... [Read More] |

People that trade cars every 3 years (salesmen with a territory?) will lease.. the rest of us drive it into the ground if the car will still do the job, the exception is what to do with the Miata once you have done your duty and produced 3 kids.

Buying a car every 10 years instead of every 3 would save a considerable amount of resources. Plus its way cheaper - and cars last that long easily.

Re: Most people waiting up to 10 years to buy a new car
The shortest I ever owned a vehicle was 5 years, but it was 20 years old when I bought it. Sold it for more money than I paid for it after I put almost 100,000 miles on it. My 81 Buick and my 86 Chevy were both 10 years old when I bought them, and I still own them both.

Well, we bumped a 2000 Sable with the 2010 Prius.
The 2008 Civic was a car needed when I moved here. So, January 2018 and December 2019 would be our 10 years. I'm already setting money aside. ;) |
