Fiat heralds return to U.S. with new ad
New Fiat ad depicts the jaunty Fiats leaping from cliffs, driving off piers and powering into the surf as they make their way from Italy to the New World.Fiat SpA will begin airing a new television spot Monday night highlighting its return to the United States. The 60-second advertisement is the first to depict the brand's entire U.S. lineup — from the entry-level Fiat 500 Pop to the race-ready Abarth. It depicts the jaunty Fiats leaping from cliffs, driving off piers and powering into the surf as they make their way from Italy to the New World. "The next wave of Italians have come to America," the ad says. "And they've come to party." "(The ad) tells the story Fiat's resurgence in America in a manner that is smart, unexpected and stylish while introducing viewers to our product portfolio," said Fiat brand president Olivier Francois in a statement. "We are proud and thankful to be back in this country, and we wanted to capture the viewer's attention in a way that is impactful, visually appealing and entertaining, while reinforcing our distinctive Italian origin." The commercial was filmed in New York and Italy. The scenes on the other side of the Atlantic are accompanied by the popular Italian tune "Torna a Surriento," while those in America feature music from the rapper Pitbull. Shorter versions of the ad will also air. Watch it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKUrYf1z9Bg |

Gee , are we s'posed to believe the 500's they sell in North America are made in Italy ?
And the Foster's beer we get here is made in Australia. Yeah. But it's a cute commercial for people who like cute cars. |

I would still like to have one in my driveway. They have a style absent from all other cars. The Panda is very compact but large inside. I was impressed by many of the vehicles in Italy. The small microvans like the Ford Galaxy (not Galaxie) have no difficulty going down their freeways at 90 mph. Sadly, the roads are much better than our pockmarked obstacle courses in California.

I think the ad says "Italian designed". I suppose its no more or less Italian than an Italian New Yorker who's never been to Italy.
My favorite depiction of swimming small cars is still the famous Top Gear Fiesta segment. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7e7R3y-qwZ0 |

Love that Top Gear review! One of their best segments ever.

Re: Fiat heralds return to U.S. with new ad
Hi All:
While I had high hopes for the 500 long before it arrived, having driven both the 500 and the Abarth, I am now in the unimpressed camp. The FE sucks, the size really sucks, the NVH is horrendous and it is pricey by comparison to the B and C-segment offerings we have available to us. While I like style, the 500 does not light me up and how Fiat continues to sell almost 3,500 units a month on average is still beyond me. Wayne |
