Re: Honda April Sales off 2.2%
My father in law bought a new Accord EXL with the V6 not long ago. He isn't happy with it because he says it rides rough and feels cheap, and doesn't get good mileage. I told him he didn't need that V6, but he said he'll never drive a 4 cyl... crazy. I told him he should get a Toyota instead right now, cause honda is on a downward slide. This is coming from a Honda guy.
The problem is the Accord has become SOOO BIG and HEAVY that my 2001 Accord is now the size of the current Civic. |

Given that their average incentives were the lowest of any major manufacturer and the solid sales of Civic, Accord and CR-V I think that Honda is doing OK. The Fit is nosediving, but next year Honda will begin manufacture of the Fit in Mexico, so they'll be able to reduce the Fit's price to compete and regaining some of the subcompact sales they're losing. Their biggest concern must be that their hybrids are still dead here, so they could lose customers if fuel prices start rising again. |
Re: Honda April Sales off 2.2%
The Accord with a 5 speed auto can join the 4 speed automatic Corolla in the "hall of shame". I love driving my smart and my Kizashi, so i have no need for a vehicle right now, but if i were looking for a sedan, i would be looking seriously at a Chrysler 200 with the pentastar V6 and 6 speed automatic. I had no problem getting mileage into the high 30's with my brothers very low mile demo. The warranty is good and best of all, with all the $$ they are laying on the hood right now, i could pick one of them up for around $18K. An Accord would be over $25K
But I am in no hurry to buy anything right now, i like what i have, and i am close to the 50MPG tank in my smart. |

Ugh, Honda ... nothing they make appeals to me very much. I do like the underrated Insight, but the more I hear about battery problems the worse it sounds.
Hyundai is the new Honda. Or maybe Mazda is the new Honda, with all their mpg improvements. But Honda is no longer the Honda I once knew and loved. Sniff. |
