Jerk of The Day

...because every jerk thinks they are...Special!

Sighted by: Dan
Vehicle: Ford F350 doolie
Place: Mason & 290 in Cypress - Greater NW Houston
Date: August 11, 2007, 6:30 PM

After the Houston Hybird and Hypermilers meeting and 111F temperatures, things got even hotter that evening as we walked away from a Chinese restaurant. A doolie was tailgating a nurse in the parking lot of this busy shopping center. She had to make an emergency stop to avoid hitting a pedestrian crossing in front of her that Saturday evening. The driver (who may have already had a couple of beers) got out and verbally abused the petite nurse to tears in front of about six witnesses. Chuck got out as he was finishing, took the picture, the crowd asking aloud what's going on, and he came back out to challenge us before finally leaving. His wife was in the passenger seat looking away during the entire episode, likely wishing she was not there.

Got stories of your own? Send us your pictures and stories and we'll feature them on Jerk of the Day!

And just look at that dually... so pretty. Not a smudge on the paint, not a scratch on the metals... even the tool box is shiny.

A $60,000 work truck that's never had to work any harder than hauling one loudmouth and one mouse to an all-you-can-eat buffet.

Talk about a misallocation of resources...

Too bad our society is so lawsuit happy. There are times when a well-placed fist is needed. :(

That guy must not have been from Houston, he doesn't know you can get shot.

Ah yes, they're always friends with the cops. Reminds me this time my neighbor came over ringing my doorbell at 4 in the morning because she was sure it must be my house that was making the loud music that was waking her up since my house was the only one with the lights on. She had a friend that was in the APD, but I live in Williamson County, so it doesn't do her any good anyways. She kept arguing and yelling at me about it and came back 3 times before I convinced her it wasn't me.

The funny thing is that once she found out who it was she chickend out and didn't do anything. Since I was nice and reasonable she kept bitching at me, but I'm guessing when she found out who it was they probably just said F You B! and closed their door.

Hey, I finally was able to snap a cell phone pic of some jerk. Can I get Delta Flyer's email address to send the pic and story to?

93H, click on his username in the banner on his post -- there is an option to email.

Speaking of jerks, I got the FU pass today -- from a Prius. Foot on the floor, Nascar approach, out, around, 1/4 second pull-in, punctuated by hammering on the brakes. I probably get better mileage in my CR-V!

got tailgated by a school bus today for about 5 miles. I wish I had the presence of mind to snap a photo and get the bus number. people like that shouldn't be driving children on the highway

Yes, there are several school buses in my area with rogue drivers, too, though they're the smaller variation. And the last time I was tail gated by one I was doing the posted speed limit. Nice.

About punching the guy--in the described situation where the bully had been seen threatening others there'd probably be enough confusing witness statements that nothing would come of a lawsuit unless you messed the "victim" up enough to make him really sympathetic to a jury. My occasional experiences with bullies in adult life is that when you belly up to them and look them in the eye they back off (except when my dear wife grabs me by the back of the collar first, then they laugh:)).

Is Texas losing its edge though--no punches or firearms used to defend the innocent lady? The most surprising thing to me is that the jerk maintained his belligerence after he left his vehicle's cloak of anonymity--he must've felt bulletproof at the time.

Couldn't get a picture of the jerk in the process of berating
the nurse? Too bad...
.
Yeah, unfortunately there are enough Priuses out there that the
quiet elegance and pride of ownership [read: smug cloud] is
being rapidly diluted. Rednecks will buy them and think 40 MPG
is great, and that's the kind of crap that will wind up on TV
as the public image of the cars going forward.

the nurse? Too bad...That 275lbs+ 45-something guy was on the verge of taking a swing at me.

He exploded at the nurse, then he had just gotten into his doolie when I first got out of the restaurant and I took a picture, then he came out and motioned like a cell phone user taking pictures and ranted about how he knew the sherriff or judge (i.e. I'm not afraid bravado).

Those are the easiest cowards to handle in a physical situation..
So easy a small woman could handle her buisness easily.. http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif

That's the kind of rotten SOB that's just begging to be put in his place. Had I been in your place and that had happened, that gentleman would have been met with force, non-lethal and lethal if need be.

My response to the LEO who would have arrived after and to the judge later if need be would have been simply." I was in fear for my life and the safety of my family"

Someone who acts in that manner has gone WAY BEYOND Jerk and has become a threat to society in general.

Agreed. I would hope that I might stand up to a jerk like that if the situation presented itself. With all the thugs and bullies in our society it is time for some modern day heroes to stand up.
