I was headed toward the college to pick my wife up, when I noticed this guy in the Ford Exploder. He came up from behind me, and drove a few inches from my rear bumper for a few seconds. Frustrated by my adherence to the speed limit, the driver floors his SUV, and goes flying around me. The light he was racing to is very long, too; usually one has to wait a few minutes at that particular light. BTW - the reason I was in the left lane (in a 45 MPH zone) is because I was hopping in the very next left turn lane.

Nope.. Pic says it all. The prius is great with it's "Tailgater Notification Display". For those un-familar with the car, it comes with a small window below the rear window. As far as I can tell, it's there to notify the driver he's being tailgated. If headlights ever shine through the bottom window, someone is kissing your bumper. I'm glad to see Honda has a similar display (or perhaps Toyota stole it from them).

This reinforces even more the relationship between hypermiling drivers and bicyclists. We both see examples of idiots wasting more gas using their cars to gesture than we save by being intelligent. I see drivers like this every time I ride, and it's not just the gas they wast, it's also the crazy risks they take with me, themselves, and everyone else on the road just to get around the slower vehicle.

What gets me is most Jerks have tunnel vision. They only see 2 feet in front of their cars and never pay attention to whats coming up, those beside them or anyone behind them. It's like they have a sign that reads "Self-centered a$$ on board". To top it off, many of these idiots are the ones criticizing hypermiling as unsafe. They just don't see the sea of near-misses behind them.

I aways wondered what that little window below the rear window was for. Thanks!
