View Full Version : Western Canada Paying Heavy Environmental Price Chuck 05-31-2006, 09:12 PM Mines in Alberta are talking a toll on the Canadian environment. Washington Post story (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13039234/) philmcneal 05-31-2006, 11:41 PM man evenually their greed will evenually affect where I'm living. Such garbage. Chuck 06-01-2006, 09:33 AM I hope "clean coal" technologies become adopted to reduce the damage that is done. What little I know (and I may need correction...) about Canada there seems to be resentment by Western Provinces with the East Coast, sort of like in the US. For example, Cape Cod does not want wind towers to spoil the view, but would have no qualms about imposing a similar hardship on a community in the Rockies. I have heard stories of quibbling about oil prices between the Oil Patch in the West and on the East Coast - both US and Canada. The sooner it sinks in at the total cost of getting more energy, the sooner we have a realistic energy policy AZBrandon 06-01-2006, 07:56 PM I love how they put the typical anti-USA spin on the story by saying it's the USA's fault that Canada is ruining their environment in the name of big profit. Chuck 06-01-2006, 10:03 PM ....and China is using a lot of that energy too. vBulletin® v3.6.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
