As a wink to http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9350, I wanted to compile a list of fuel wasters. Some have been discontinued so I went back to 2003 for all data. Some of the MPG data is sparse, so please fill in my data. I only picked the 9 worse, the 10th is likely a bling truck.

SUV|city|highway|comb|Weekly fillup
H2|10|13|11.5|$81.32
Excusion|11|13|12.0|$77.51
Navigator|11|16|13.3|$70.12
escalade|12|16|13.9|$66.95
suburban|13|15|14.0|$66.40
H1|13|17|14.9|$62.38
Sequoia|14|17|15.5|$60.07
Tahoe|14|18|15.9|$58.40
Yukon|14|19|16.4|$56.90

* All Estimated annual fuel costs were based on 15,000 miles per year, $3.229 for gallon of regular unleaded.

The Prius in S1 can probably take them all. ;)

It's hard to fathom 13 on the highway. The trailers that hauled the Excursion monstrosities to the dealership probably got 13.

LOL! I had never thought of it like that but could vary well be true.

Yeah, 13 MPG on the highway is mind boggling. With my wife's Tacoma 4x4 (V6 3.4L) I have hauled a 5,000 pound boat, 5 people and picnic supplies for 30 people over Mount Rose and still gotten 16.3 MPG.

I own both a 1983 Suburban and a 2000 Insight and I know I'm not comparing apples to apples but here are some of my facts. I drive the Burban about 3000 miles a year and lets say I drive the Insight the standard 15000 miles per year. I'm a hypermiler and hypermile both of them. I average 11 MPG in the Burban and have averaged 93.85 the last two years in the Insight. At that rate the Burban uses 273 gallons and the Insight uses 160 gallons per year. That meens the Burban uses 113 gallons MORE to go 12000 miles LESS then the Insight......Louis

Louis,
thanks for the figures. I certainly don't intend to paint anyone in a bad light with SUVs, I just wanted to put together mpg data on some me the vehicles not regulated by the EPA.

Assuming it has the 25 gallon tank options, the weekly fill-Ups certainly get sobering.

Actually, I'm amazed the Tahoe and Yukon get better mpg than the Sequoia. But my brother has a 2001 Sequioa and it's never had a breakdown, just maintenance repairs like brakes.

It may all be the source data. I went to edmunds, cars.com, wikipedia, google, and then the manufactures sites to collect the data. The manufactures grossly overstate efficiency.

I couldn't find a consistent data repository for the big steal, but if you know of one, I'll update my figures.
