I just read in tonight's paper that the owner of a dry cleaners asked the county board to use MAXR 100 (http://www.sunsetenergysystems.com/maxr100.html) in 2 of the county vehicles for one month and he guaranteed 10% increase in fuel economy. I googled it and found that it is a synthetic additive for refrigeration heat pumps. I know several of the board members. Do I need to call them at home this week-end??

Don't let 'em use it unless they know its blowby is safe for catalytic converters and that their vehicles are out of warantee.

Caution is always good advice but keep an open mind. Yes, MaxR 100 is an air conditioning compressor oil additive for HVAC applications (not automotive). I was very skeptical when I first came accross it. But after 3 yrs of 1st hand testing, I know that it works very well. The same manufacturer produces other products - one for auto air conditioning, and others for gasoline and diesel engine performance. I would like to hear from anyone who has tried these and logged results. I will be doing the same soon and appreciate the advice/precautions here.

___I owned a Ranger at one point and over 30,000 + miles including about a quarter of that towing a 4 to 5,000 pound Landscape trailer averaged 38 + mpg. I used Mobil1 in the crankcase but not any "magic elixer". That is over 5 years of first hand testing...

Tell the county board to ask themselves"why don't the OEM engineers use this?" If their answer is that the engineers are ignorant, incompetent fools, then you had better move.
He guaranteed or what- he would pay $10,000??
Is he selling this stuff ?
If he gets enough suckers to bite some will get 10% increase do to normal variation in FE. The buyers-suckers-will them brag to the hills about it(like they did about turbonators,CAIs etc).
