My rear fender nut came loose and so did my left rear wheel cover - $252 plus $20 for the nut. :( The second one was gone because the assembly needed replacing.

The silver lining is I got my rear view mirror put back in after being down a month.

OUCH! Did it come off while driving down the road?

OUCH! Did it come off while driving down the road? On the Bush Tollway...pulled over to the side, jogged 200 yards and was crazy enough to pull the remains at 5pm with traffic going 70-75mph....even looking both way, etc. this is still crazy. It was too damaged to put back on.

By this time next week, I should have a replacement.

Simply need to use a thread glue in the future.

Hi Chuck:

___IIRC, someone drilled holes in either the OEM or a longer bolt and looped some wire through as a safety. It seemed like a really great idea at the time it is something you may want to consider for your own?

___Good Luck

Wayne,

I'll consider that.

Had to rant, but I could have avoided losing my left rear fender - bottom line.

Southco fasteners sells stainless ones. I think they were around $13 including shipping.

A few have used a micro shackle.

Others have used small zip ties.

Sorry to hear that Delta Flyer. I'm headed out ot the garage now to check mine. I usually check them each time I get gas, which is about once a month. I use a quarter to make sure they are tight. However, considering I've heard this story several times I may need to consider a more permanent solution.

i just use zip-ties, no bolts. heard too many bad things about those fasteners. the wide, black zip-ties last a very long time, even outside. i change them once a year when i rotate the tires.
