It's true... sometimes it will be at 2 bars, and suddenly die. Sometimes it will drop down to one bar, run there for a while, then go back up to 2 bars!

Seems like the same SoC algorithms have the same problems.

My old sprint phone did that constantly, and it didn't even
have that much to do with whether I was talking on it or not.
The prime suspect was dirty/flakey battery contacts. Try cleaning
yours up [pencil eraser, or get a can of contact cleaner] and
see if that helps.

For similar reasons, I'm figuring that part of periodic maintenance
on the Prius [well, any car for that matter] should be pulling
every connector you can semi-conveniently get to and reseating
it. Slides corrosion off the contacts, especially at points
where they've actually been touching metal-to-metal.
