Bought a Scan Gauge II on line last March. I have been very pleased with the unit and have realized a 10 to 15% increase in mpg by monitoring performance, specifically using the TPS option (also known as LFR – Lead Foot Reduction).
In the last week, the backlight started to flicker on and off. Jiggling the plug helped briefly, but now the backlight no longer works. Switching the cable between the inputs has no effect. All other functions are normal.
Has anybody else had a problem with the backlight going Tango Uniform?

.
Are you willing to take the unit apart and see if a connector or
solder joint has gone flakey on you? Flickering and temporary
fix via wiggling is pretty symptomatic of that.

Happened to me back in July. (http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/scan-gauge/t-scangauge-ii-location-in-a-8th-generation-honda-civic-5284.html) But don't do it yourself. They'll probably surprise you with great service. And it's also a great time to update your firmware.

They'll replace it free of charge. Take my word for it.

Yeah, I hope I can get this taken care of. Problem is that the only proof of purchase I have is the credit card billing page from when I bought it on line via the Scan Gauge web site. I sent an e-mail to service from the site, but have yet to receive a response. Guess I gotta go 1-800.
I did crack the case open to check the ribbon cable, but didn't want to mess around in the guts too much.
So for the time being there's a empty space on my dash, like I lost an intelligent buddy.
No engine temp or air input temp (been cold in the mornings lately).
No TPS to keep me reined in.
No mpg readout (325 mpg coasting in neutral down long hills at 65 mph).
Like my car has lost its brain.
So sad...

Call them. And put your scangauge back in unless *ALL* your driving is during darkness. You might have to move it more into your line of sight, but you can look head on at the gauge with just ambient light. Here's a direct comparison - broken backlight and functioning backlight.

Thanks for all the responses!
But I got the best response of all from a rep at Linear Logic:
"Sorry to here you are having a problem with your ScanGaugeII. If you send it in, we will repair it under warranty. Don't worry about receipts. We don't knitpick when a customer has a problem.
Send just the ScanGaugeII (no cable or other things) to:
Linear Logic LLC
Attn: Warranty Service

Please include a copy of this email.

Needless to say, I'll be popping my unit in the mail soon.
My deepest appreciation to the folks at Linear Logic.

Sent my Scan Gauge II out Saturday a week ago; got my Scan Gauge back last Saturday, a 1 week turnaround. Impressive.
Back in the Subie and working. New firmware. Strange results though. I am getting 9999 being displayed on the MPG scale when coasting. Before, when coasting - foot off gas, or rolling down a hill in neutral, the gauge would show as much as 320 mpg. Now, when the reading goes past 102, it shows 9999 and stays for a few seconds. Will search the forum for resolution.
Hi Warmwind76:
___Ron added a Fuel cut like method of measuring FE while coasting down to a stop. If in gear with a modern day FI engine, you are actually using no fuel. Ina NICE-On, you are consuming fuel but with very iFCD FE numbers.
