Has anyone tried this bit of ODBII wizardry?

ElmScan 5 Wireless Scan Tool

It looks very promising for hypermiling applications.

I am especially interested if somone has used the wireless option in conjunction with Carman software on an internet tablet. http://openbossa.indt.org/carman/

This looks like www.carchip.com (http://www.carchip.com)

Enjoyed it, but unless I splice my OBDII port, have to choose between it and ScanGage. :(

I considered the elmscan before I bought my scangauge. The datalogging feature would be great for testing purposes. However, I have yet to find software for it that calculates mileage. Also, its far easier to mount and monitor a scangauge in the car versus a laptop. :)

Well, I was thinking more of putting up to a small computer tablet like the Nokia 770.
(As shown on the Carman site http://openbossa.indt.org/carman/)

It's a much smaller screen and could be more easily viewed and mounted.

It looks like carman is open source software. The real key is that mpg calculation.
Ron of Scangage has spent a long time perfecting that, and even he still his system has diffficulty for some cars. (Like the Insight.)
