Just got an application from the State Of Florida for a HOV decal. This is the first I’ve heard that this State is permitting hybrids in that lane with a single person. They want $5 plus $1 if applying within 2 or more months prior to your birth month and renews annually.

Something is wrong with this idea I think. The State wants me to be allowed to drive in the fastest lane with only myself to promote a sound environmental policy and conserve energy. If I drive in the slow lane at 60mph, I may average ~38mpg, but if I drive in the HOV lane at 75mph, or get ran over, I’ll get ~28mpg. Can someone tell me that they agree this is a sound environmental policy that conserves energy?

Or you can drive in the HOV lane at greater than 0 whilst the traffice in the other lanes is stopped?

If the traffic is moving at 60 mph in the right hand lanes, I wouldn't be in the HOV lane.

If you are willing to go the pack speed in the HOV lane - no problem. This is what I'd avoid....
