View Full Version : Logo Needed
tbaleno 04-27-2006, 01:26 AM We need a logo (or logos) for the website. If anyone likes to play with photoshop or any other type of image creation software we could use your help.
We need a logo that looks good as a silhouette. And maybe a logo that just looks good for the top of webpages or merchandise to support the site.
Obviously we can't pay for it, so if you want to help out a good cause we would be much appreciative.
Sledge 05-02-2006, 06:46 PM I just whipped this up. If I knew how to make chrome text, I would have done that too along with the gauge ring.
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a303/Sledge454/CleanMPG/magneto.jpg
tbaleno 05-02-2006, 07:29 PM It looks good. The font is hard to read at a glance though. Maybe something similar with a different font
Sledge 05-02-2006, 07:44 PM It's difficult finding a good retro/futuristic font. How bout this?
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a303/Sledge454/CleanMPG/hemi.jpg
tbaleno 05-02-2006, 07:47 PM I like it :) I wonder what it would look like with a www. at the begining and a .com between the mpg and the gauge in a smaller font. ;) (just thinking out loud) :)
Sledge 05-02-2006, 07:47 PM http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a303/Sledge454/CleanMPG/neuro.jpg
tbaleno 05-02-2006, 07:51 PM No sir. Don't like that font.
Sledge 05-02-2006, 07:52 PM http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a303/Sledge454/CleanMPG/sf_quartz.jpg
tbaleno 05-02-2006, 07:54 PM That font is okay. I like the other one better though.
Sledge 05-02-2006, 07:56 PM I wish I could better integrate the fuel gauge somehow.
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a303/Sledge454/CleanMPG/hemi_www.jpg
Maybe if I put it in the background.
tbaleno 05-02-2006, 07:57 PM how about above the .com
Sledge 05-02-2006, 08:17 PM Another try
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a303/Sledge454/CleanMPG/hemi_combo1.jpg
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a303/Sledge454/CleanMPG/hemi_combo2.jpg
Maybe if I squared up the gauge to match the "P" of the font...
brick 05-02-2006, 08:20 PM I think I like attempt #2 the best so far. Integrating the fuel gauge is OK in a large version but I think it will be too small if the logo is resized. When it's on its own next to the lettering it is more obvious. Maybe place it over the ".com"? Maybe a different style gauge would integrate better.
tbaleno 05-02-2006, 08:20 PM nope. no likey
Sledge 05-02-2006, 08:32 PM ?
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a303/Sledge454/CleanMPG/hemi_end1.jpg
tbaleno 05-02-2006, 08:34 PM how about making the .com half the size of the other font and making the gauge the o?
Sledge 05-02-2006, 08:42 PM http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a303/Sledge454/CleanMPG/hemi_end2.jpg
Sledge 05-02-2006, 08:45 PM http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a303/Sledge454/CleanMPG/hemi_end3.jpg
tbaleno 05-02-2006, 08:45 PM Try the previous logo without the outer ring and try it without the inner ring see how those look.
Sledge 05-02-2006, 08:50 PM http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a303/Sledge454/CleanMPG/hemi_end4.jpg
Sledge 05-02-2006, 08:56 PM I like this one :) It's only four colors (white, black, orange, and 20% black) so it should be easy to print too.
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a303/Sledge454/CleanMPG/hemi_end5.jpg
Sledge 05-02-2006, 09:05 PM Maybe I should dump the "www"?
brick 05-02-2006, 09:08 PM Ooooh. Now you're getting somewhere!
Sledge 05-02-2006, 09:08 PM http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a303/Sledge454/CleanMPG/hemi_end6.jpg
tbaleno 05-02-2006, 09:10 PM I like this
Sledge 05-02-2006, 09:23 PM Ummm... I have no idea how I did that transparency
This will take some time :D
tbaleno 05-02-2006, 09:25 PM My wife says the www is to wide. I can add transparancy if nessasary.
Sledge 05-02-2006, 09:35 PM A little dropshadow action :)
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a303/Sledge454/CleanMPG/hemi_end7.jpg
tbaleno 05-02-2006, 09:37 PM wheres the www?
Sledge 05-02-2006, 09:39 PM I got rid of the www. It makes it unbalanced.
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a303/Sledge454/CleanMPG/hemi_end8.jpg
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a303/Sledge454/CleanMPG/hemi_end9.jpg
tbaleno 05-02-2006, 09:50 PM The bottom one looks great then. I wish it had the www. but it shouldn't be a big deal. You might want to blur the letters to get rid of the jaggies.
Then its just a matter of finding a place that can make decals out of it for cars ;) And placing it on the site.
Sledge 05-02-2006, 09:52 PM Is there a particular file format you prefer?
tbaleno 05-02-2006, 09:56 PM I don't know. tiff maybe?
Sledge 05-02-2006, 10:06 PM Download the zip file with 2 TIFF's here:
http://rapidshare.de/files/19490833/CleanMPG.zip.html
tbaleno 05-02-2006, 10:26 PM What tool did you use to create them by the way?
Sledge 05-02-2006, 10:28 PM CorelDraw & Corel PhotoPaint v12
Sledge 05-02-2006, 10:43 PM If you're going to make decals, can you make those clear static cling types that have no glue so I can put it in my window and remove it easily?
tbaleno 05-02-2006, 10:47 PM Okay, I'll try.
Sledge 05-02-2006, 11:10 PM Here's a zip file with much larger TIFF's. The logo is around 36 inches long at 300 dpi so it should be very clear

Hi Sledge:
___What do you do for a living because you whipped those up in a matter of hours and they look pretty hot! Very nice!
___Good Luck
___Wayne
tbaleno 05-03-2006, 01:26 AM Sledge, take a look at your logo in action. Note that currently there is no markup on those items. I'm still looking into the cling type decals.

krousdb 05-03-2006, 05:17 AM Awesome job Sledge! I might even consider one for my car.
Sledge 05-03-2006, 07:44 AM Kickass, tbaleno! :D :D I like the original black text more than the blue on the bumper sticker. Maybe I should have made the gray a little darker. Oh well. Hindsight is 20/20 :)
xcel, I'm an analytical engineer for an OEM supplier. We make transmission parts that go in Ford, GM, and recently Toyota vehicles. My job is... everything. FEA, mathematical analysis, programming, reports, presentations. You name it. I have to do it.
I was watching Texas Ranch House on PBS last night and it was getting a little boring (it's a historical "reality" show), so I found this thread, fired up Corel, and started doodling :)
This is what I mean by static cling stickers (for those who've never seen them).
http://www.koolprint.com/staticclings.asp
tbaleno 05-03-2006, 10:34 AM The problem I'm having with static clings is that I can't just do one to see how it looks. I have to order quantites of 150 or more.
Sledge 05-03-2006, 10:54 AM Oh well. I tried.
I could always make my own :)
http://www.papilio.com/inkjet%20ultra%20cling%20transparent%20adhesive%20media.html
tbaleno 05-03-2006, 11:15 AM I haven't given up. I just have to be sure how the image is going to look before I plop down $150 or so on them. I'll probably get a bumpersticker or something to see the image blown up and stuff.
philmcneal 05-03-2006, 08:11 PM hm the logos are nice, but the black sure doesn' tfit with the cleanmpg colors? i mean isn't it more blue and light blue? i dunno still looks good though!
Hi Sledge:
___Tom will be PM’ing you in short order as we had a discussion ;) but if it helps, can I buy you the first CleanMPG logo’ed cap or sticker for your efforts? That logo looks so cool and thank you!
___Phil, I have been drawing CleanMPG logo’s from all kinds of colors in the last 2 days and the Black sure is clean. The Blue’s I have used do not seem to look as tight for some reason???
___Good Luck
___Wayne
