Hi all--

A coworker alerted me to news of a recall affecting 2006-2007 Civics (http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070915/AUTO01/709150335/1148).

I checked Ownerlink and nothing has been posted yet for my HCH-II, which was built around November 2006.

I think I'll call the dealer I got mine from anyway. I reallly don't want the wheels falling off when I'm on the freeway...

According to what I can see in the "channel", the HCH is not "yet" affected by the O-Ring/seal issue.

The HCH is however marked for the other recall. It appears they over-packed grease on the telescopic steering which has a remote tendency to leak and drip on the brake switch module. If this was to happen then the switch could render the shifter inoperable and would likely prevent the brake lights from operating as well.

I am not sure about the actual overall numbers, but there are roughly 908 Canadian HCH's that have been flagged for the second recall. My 2006 is not one of them and neither is the 2007, so I also suspect that not all HCH's (2006 & 2007) will be subject to this recall, because the Canadian market has far greater number of HCH-II's on the road than just 908 units.

Cheers;

MSantos
