Just bought a Santa Fe for the legroom - I'm pretty tall.

Our Accord 4cyl/5sp isn't at all comfortable for my legs on long trips and this is replacing a minivan that we got used to for packing stuff on long trips.

Love everything about the new version of the SF except the gas mileage but I knew that going in and made matters a bit worse by going AWD (I'm FWD'd out - Fiesta, Horizons, Civic, Saturn - the Accord doesn't actually torque steer much at all but the FWD Santa Fe that I test drove sure did). The Vibe was closest but was really too tight for my legs and for sitting 3 in the back seat using 2 boosters. I wish the CRD version was sold in Canada.

Last year the 3.3L AWD SF was rated for 19/24 (22 combined) and 22 is what I'm averaging overall in mostly urban driving. I've had two tanks so far where I've hit 27mpg on pure highway 55 MPH - 60 MPH driving. Too many short trips dropping off kids and driving to the train station.

My target is to exceed 23.5MPG which would get me under 10 LPH.

235/MPG = LPH (282 for Imperial)

I have a ScanGauge and couldn't believe that such a cool thing was even on the market but I have yet to do any vehicle changes to increase FE, not even boosting my tire pressure. The vehicle is easy to coast but don't touch the key.

I have much to learn...
