So I decided to run over to Ft. Smith, Ar. and vist with some buddy's of mine. A trip Ive taken a 1000 times.
I get on I-40 and catch some Okie fas I-40 east bound.

I had just brought the tire psi up to 50. All went well in the fas dept.
Was a rather boring drive. Well other than the State Troopers pulling folks over left and right. They were thick.
Here is some Arkie fas'ing. Im coming over the bridge into downtown Ft. Smith. The bridge goes over the Arkansas River. The red light I caught wasn't a big deal. Just out of camera view they were shuting down the cross street. So I went on thru. :)

So I arrive at one of my buddys house. His wife just left to go to Bentonville in her SK55 AMG. Left him with the whimpy 320 and old brownie is another buddys 240D. And yes they wanted to drive the MZ3. And they were not nice to it. Nor have I ever been nice to one of there cars. Including the SK 55 AMG,,, that thing is nice. :)

While I was there I was given a very nice Iver Johnson .22 Carbine 4 digit serial number. Nice little plunker. Will be a great rifle to teach my grandchildren to shoot with. The visit had to end and I had to get back to Okmulgee. Going home always does my soul and heart good. Need to do it more often. :)
So I begrudgingly leave Ft. Smith. Make it thru Roland, Ok. and there speed trap and get on I-40 west bound. I know my near and dear buddy's have done there very best to wreck the tank. So I pick up a distant draft on a semi.

Light rain had started falling. And that white looking sky a head of the semi is a freaking wall of water I'm about to run into.
I got thru the wall of water and all that seems to go with it in a okie thunder storm. Plus there was the added benny of foam on the road surface. It was like a truck had been leaking soap for 10 miles. Was really awful. The TCS got a good workout.
Here Im coming out of the storm. If you look close you can see the end of the foam run. Really strange.

Here is a shot of the seething cloud mass as I was leaving the mess. Looked like a massive up draft to me. Real spooky to see this. Much less the end of July.

The light at the end of the storm.

It was in this area several years ago the wife and I saw a tornado go horizontal on the ground like a huge big rolling carpet. Was just south of I-40.
At this point The tank is at 40 mpg. From a high of 44 mpg just a few short hours ago. Then all the sudden two State Troopers go blowing by me. Then one up ahead pulls out of its hiding spot. Hits the lights and there gone. OK all the law dogs are gone in this area. Must have been a wreck or something else where. All the sudden traffic is flying. I look down and I'm doing 80 mph and getting passed like I'm standing still. After a few miles of this I take a exit and decide to wait and see if traffic will slow down. Big mistake!!!

After being in the MZ3 at 80 mph. I was setting there and started thinking. Wonder what the big end is like in this thing? Traffics still whizzing by. So I call a buddy of mine that has a very long and straight private road,, that goes nowhere. So I flip out the cell and give him a call. Sure he said,,, stop on by and take a run at it. Well seeing its only 2 miles a way... What the heck.
Here is a pic on his road just after I hit a max speed of 117 mph. Right after I took the pic I had to break her down. The roads only 1.5 mile long.

That was fun!!! I doubt the car will ever see the big end again. Or at least that I will admit to. :D
It was on down the road from there on I-40 west. Pretty uneventful. The tank was shot! The speeds had dropped back down and I was recovering some. But the damage had been done.
Heres a fas coming off I-40 west to hwy 75 north at Henryetta.

It was a fun trip. With nothing being boring on the way back. :)
Tank for that trip came in at 38.3 mpg.
