There is a group buy for the Prius 2G Engine Block Heaters going on at PriusChat For anyone that's been considering this would be a good time to get in on a good price.

Hi Evan:

___Not at all! Anything that really helps take the Prius’ up a notch is fair game and the EBH is one of the keys for the short segment drivers in particular.

___Thanks for the heads up and I am sure that includes all the Prius driving members here at CleanMPG.

___Good Luck

___Wayne

I'm getting my arm in ready condition, who wants it installed for free.

What I'd like to know is when will the Prius have a running board (http://www.runningboardwarehouse.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=99)? It would be good for stuff such as pushing it at drive-ins, MPG Challenges, etc.... :D

Hmm. I wonder if a South Carolinian who drives too far can benefit from an EBH? This is worth considering.

Umm... that GB is for $49 shipped, when Toyota of Dallas stocks them for $41 shipped (this is where I got mine):

By the way, that EBH fits any of the 1NZ-F*E models, so it works for the Prius, Yaris, Echo, Tercel, the xA and xB, and some Corollas.

Like most other modern gasoline burners, the Prius' ECU runs the engine rich and at higher RPM when cold in a race to get the catalytic converter warmed up (in order to drop emission levels). This is a double whammy for the Prius, though, as in that state the ECU precludes you from EV'ing or gliding.

An EBH would eliminate all that by pre-heating the engine.

Actually, I have seen them for as low as $27.50 plus shipping online. Metro Toyota is an easy place to find and order one since they stock and advertise them. Most online places do not stock them and they are a special order, plus many do not show them unless you provide the US part number 00113-00213-00889.

Same with going to most dealers, because it is a third party Toyota part they do not want to deal with it since it is ordered outside the usual parts channels. Because of that they will either say it doesn't exist or will charge above MSRP (approx. $38) because of their effort.

The only benmefit of buying from PC is that it helps support PC's operation since Danny makes a few $'s from Metro. Otherwise.......
