View Full Version : Record Tank, but with diminished joy

I knew I was headed for a record tank this time and was looking forward to filling up this morning. SGII estimated that I had used 9.7 gallons and I had driven 472.8 miles which makes something like 48+ mpg. SGII overestimates slightly and so I was hoping for at least a 47+ tank considering my previous best was 46.93 mpg.

As I watched the pump, imagine my surprise when it stopped at 8.595 gallons, that is like 55mpg. Its the same pump I use always. I think it screwed up somewhere. Mostly likely, I will have a low tank next time and I should probably average the two to get the real number.

Hmm...how I wish I could have known the true number today! :-(

Anyways...

Hey, 48+ MPG on a non-hybrid is not bad either! Are these mostly highway miles?

Don't sweat it. The numbers aren't as important as the effort. You know you did well, thats all that you should realy care about. The numbers are just a measuring stick to help you track improvement.

I agree, don't sweat it. You pumped what you pumped, and if next time it turns out worse, things will average themselves out. So enjoy your bananas and Congrats! :Banane35:

Thank you all. Yeah, I am no doubt happy, just a little bummed at not knowing what the exact number was. But, I won't complain. :-)

In response to rb1, they are about 55% highway miles.

Yeah, I am no doubt happy, just a little bummed at not knowing what the exact number was.

Just imagine if it *is* the exact number ! :Banane21:

Even if it isn't , it is in excess of your previous high tank and you still get a :Banane21: .
