My youngest daughter and her husband just purchased a 04 Camry, I4, 5MT LE. It has steel wheels and covers. Black with Tan inside. It has 77k miles on it with some hail damage and scratched up to beat hell. They paid 12,500 for it at the local Chevy dealer.

I begged them not to buy it. I asked them to go get a Yaris with air bags or go for a Fit. Even a LX Civic or a deal on a new LX Accord. But they didnt. they got boned on the interest rate. I told her if she bought what dad wanted her to get we would co-sign the loan. But she wanted this car.

It drives out real well. No squeaks or rattles. Every thing works in it. I put the SG in it. Set to hybrid, 2.4l the rest default and ripped 45 mpg out of it on a 20 mile run.

I went to the dealer this evening and got her free oil changes for 2 years. I wouldn't have paid over $10k for the car. I kinda messed his head up with KBB. Told him straight up. Sir you screwed my youngest daughter. I did a bit of checking thru another person and found out indeed it was a female owned car. And that she did indeed trade it in on a Impala SS. All the scratches on the car point to female ownership. Drivers door handle and pocket are flat black from all the finger nial and jewelry. It has stupid scratchs on the top of the car and on the trunk lid from stuff being put on the car and draggedoff the car. Couple that with the hail damage

Back to driving the car. The drivers seat sucks!!!! Accord has much better seat. Even with the full power tilt and whirl it will do. Its a awful seat. The Accords seat is so much better it isnt funny. Of all the whiz bang it does have I dont know if it has ABS. And I tried 3 times to make it chatter the brake pedal. I didnt look under the hood. But I would bet,,, no ABS. Yota should be taken to the shed and punished by some of there stupid packaging they do. I did do some cornering in the car. It isnt a Accord in this area. Its a Buick LeSaber. Kind of a shame really. It rides like a Buick, no road noise and corners like a Buick. Afew corners I hit in the Accord. The Yota was wanting to complain at levels Ive not seen since my 92 Olds Delta 88.

Let me say I drove the car like a step child for the first 20 mile loop... Laid the coal to it. Then put the SG in it. It smoked the Accord FE wise. I give all of this to the 5 MT. 1200 to 2000 rpm shifts are effortless. Given the conditions. The 2.4L engine has the grunt to pull them off. You folks have no idea what Exel goes thru to push his 5AT Accord to the levels he lives buy. A MT makes all the diff. The car coast's out inbetween the Accord and the Civic. Its a good coaster!

Pro's
Great engine. A very straight up in your face lug loving animal. 5MT tranny,,, Shifts sooooo much better than my Civic or Ranger it isnt funny. NO syncro clash coming off fas. Butter sums it up. The clutch is also a work of art. Great combo. Ride if you want a Buick or Caddy is in there. Road noise I think is as good or better than a high end Acura. And better than any mid-size American sedan Ive driven in the last 10 years.

Con's
It corners like GM/Ford junk. Brakes are iffy. Seats are awful. Dash is light years behind Accord. << this is no joke. The Accords dash lay out, function and feel of controls are so much better. Yota should be worried about there failure here. It does do a dash better than a Chevy or Ford in its class. And I can see why folks buy this car over Accord. They are use to Junk.... The car is like driving what The big three refuse or cant build.

Its not a Accord by any stretch. A Accord is a drivers car. Camry is a car.

Hi Jeff:

___I do not think anyone has ever said that you don’t tell it the way it is which is probably why your posts are so much fun to read. Straight between the eyes ;)

___Although $12K for a Camry of that age and miles seems a bit steep; at least she has something you can teach her to drive properly. The ICE and stick sound like a dream come true for some of us in fact!

___Good Luck

I got with my daughter today. Told her if we clean the car up I will post it here. She was intrested in where she should be shifting it. Truth is. she is wanting to drive with some FE in mind. Her lazy worthless husband is wanting to bang on it. I pumped her tires up 4 psi. told her in a week we will have them to max side wall of 44 psi. Told her to just shift the thing at 2k rpm. She is a A/C freak. Mother of one child. He cant get hot. And she spoils him to the point nobody wants to be around him. But thats for another father daughter talk. :) she was with me when I ripped a soild 45 mpg out of it. She was ,,,, dad can I get 36 mpg around town in it. I told her yes. Just will take some pratice on your part. If she is game and keeps with the tire psi and shift point. I will take her to load driving. If that goes well I will get her fasing to stops and refire at lights and bumping. I'll see where her heads at and play with her skills.

My kids know how to drive. Just need to teach them a bit more. And its a joy to not see them wanting to be there mother. She was laughing today and jumped on her mother. Took her out to show her the nail marks on her car. "Mom your car will look as bad as mine if you keep phucking up" I called her down after that.... lmao.....

Do you want to copy and paste your original post in the reviews section. It is a great review of the 04 camry if someone should be interested in picking one up.

I dont know about great. My mother purchased a 03 v6 Camry when they came out. Had everything but navi. It to was a boring car.

If you want it in the review section put it there. I just had to comment on the car. With a Accord and a Camry now in the family of the same competing gens. Its nice to see them heads up.

Hi Jeff:

___I have a lot of pics to add, cleanup and formatting to perform before this one goes to the review section. Give me a few days and I will fix it up where and when I can so you can post a proper review for all to see. Her FE capability w/ the stick sounds very Accord like and I cannot wait to here what you can do with any kind of real back and forth to work type drive although I know your daughter will not be driving your Civic EX anytime soon ;)

___Would you like to be added to the draft section so you can do some editing/additions along with the rest of us?

___Good Luck
