I'm soon driving from WA to WI for hybridfest. For my 2005 red Insight, I've aquired a bright LED scrolling message, license plate frame. It has a capacity of 5 messages, 120 characters each. Please give me suggestions for message content. Keep in mind, I don't want to make anyone mad (for the safety sake of my car) but I would like to nicely promote fuel efficiency awareness, etc.

Maybe I could give a plug to CleanMPG.com and "Hybridfest 2007". So what messages should I create & display???

Hybridfest or bust, obviously.
.
How close do people have to be to actually read it, and
do you want them there?

thanks Winger, Tom, Debbie. Hey Hobbitt, looking forward to seeing you again this July. Yeah, you're right, I don't want freeway travellers right up on my rear. But especially at night, this thing can be seen & read at a pretty far distance, maybe 90 feet?

Those are good suggestions, keep some more coming......

MPG Research Vehicle. Road speed may vary.

And I really like (from johnf514):
MPG is the new HP

How about, "Your right headlight is out!" or the one I always wanted on my red '95 Elantra (with about 90hp or so), "Does this LOOK like a sports car??"

Sorry -- this is supposed to be fuel economy oriented, right? :p

How about, "I always exceed the posted limits -- Oh!! Those are SPEED limits??"

Or maybe, "I can drive for over an hour with the empty light on... how about you?"

Or, "Wayne Gerdes for President!!"

Or, "Yeah, there's pedals in here."

Or, "I can't remember when I last bought gas because this thing just doesn't run out!!"

I think I had better stop there... ;)

Do the math

[this is getting ridiculous, and there very likely isn't
room for long messages..]

How 'bout "Montana sucks"? ;)

"Osama hates this car" is a favorite of mine.

I want a scrolling LED that displays my consumption screen. I also want something to change my car color to green whenever my FE = 9999. I also want the Statesman to return my calls/emails and do an article on me & hypermiling.

That's all. :)

Someone else here (can't remember who) suggested a bumper sticker that reads: "All those in favor of better gas mileage, please raise your right foot." Could also replace "better mileage" with "cheaper gas".

Attention Whole Foods Shoppers: slow driving is a cheaper way to help the environment.

Billy,
Knowing your driving skill, why not just put your current LMPG or daily MPG on the frame each night.
Average MPG = XXXX
I had a had a 7" LCD display in the rear hatch window of mine for a while with a small color camera that read the the MPG and MPG bargraph sitting on the dash, and sent the video to the LCD. It made me feel like I had to drive efficiently since everyone was watching. Got me too nervous so I took it out.

Here's a few:

Follow me for better MPG.

Gas prices don't matter at 97 MPG.

billy,

You have a chance to get your Insight posted by a newbie going to or from HybridFest. It happened here (http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/general/t-anti-funeral-processional-1761.html) (see post #5, even though the pic is now removed of me passing a few cars with the CleanMPG.com logo splashed on the back of my car).

I was in a local park (http://techno-fandom.org/~hobbit/pix/phpp/) a couple of days ago and was given
a "ONE LESS SUV" sticker that's now on the back of the golfcart.

I think instead of "Osama hates this car" it should be

"OPEC hates this car" or maybe "Chavez hates this car".

I was totally going to buy one of those LED plates but I was afraid I would piss someone off because I can be very opinionated and I am not going to be the cause of aggressive driving or road rage.

Hi

I just the first step of my new "bumper" sticker. In Canada, it's metric but you should appreciate.
