Howdy all!

Glad to be here too! I am also middle aged, like Tom and I am interested in fuel economy. I am a conservative who doesn't really like to discuss politics. I have a wonderful wife, Caroline of 12 years, an 8 year old daughter, Nikki and a seven year old son, Danny. We have two cats, Cleo (black) and Tiger (Orange). And lets not forget our puppy Angel, a tri color Shetland Sheepdog.

In the garage we have a 2004 Prius which my wife now drives and a 1993 Honda del Sol which is my daily driver. The 1997 Outback lives under the deck and is relagated to hauling stuff around and driving in bad weather.

What I hope to find here is a site where non-hybrids are just as welcome as hybrids. And to learn and share about techniques that we all can use to save fuel and reduce this fine country's dependence on foriegn oil.:D

Nice to see some of the cream of the crop showing up here. It looks like what you want in a site pretty much defines our vision as well. I suspect you will not be dissapointed. It may take a while until we get as much posts as some of the other sites, but hopefuly there will be a few that will make it worth your time browse here.

I'm sure that participating here will be well worth my time. Since I now drive an older car that is much less complicated than the Prius, I will be exploring some other more extreme ways to save fuel. I am targeting 60+ MPG over the summer. I am currently at only 51-52 this tank. Darn cold weather! :-(

Hey, if you get a display in that thing showing the mileage on a tank it would be cool to put it up in a banner like the civic one we have now.

Just wanted to say hello to you and a very "Hardy Welcome". :D

I just became a member myself and as of yet do not own a Hybrid.

There is Hope though, just down the road one is on the way the Dealer told me. Dealers would not MisLead us, now would they?

Since my del Sol is a 93 it is OBDI, not OBDII. So no Scangauge for me. Luckily the SuperMID will work. I hope to have it in about a week. That alone will help me learn to drive better.

I guess I don't understand what you mean by the banner. You mean the HCH instrument pane lbackground at the top of the page?

Thanks for the hardy welcome! I am wondering about the junior member thing. How does one graduate to a member such as yourself? You must know someone.:p

24.5 pounds? What do you feed that thing, raw meat! What an appropriate name! Tiger!

Well my Tiger is only 15lbs and he is a couch potato. I thought he was big but nothing compared to yours. He is still less than a year old so give him time is guess.:)

Hi Hermitt1917:

___Yet another Ranger driver? They seem to be coming out of the woodwork as of late and none to soon! Welcome to CleanMPG and just like the hybrids, diesels and fuel efficient compacts and mid-sizes here, a Ranger P/U can be brought up to some pretty spectacular numbers. I hope you have the 2.3 w/ a stick but even the 3 or 4L with an Auto can perform far better then most would have imagined with a little knowledge, practice and work on your part. If you need any help after reading some of the articles to the right on the home page, start a new thread with your questions and we will do what we can to help.

___Good Luck and again, welcome to CleanMPG!

___Wayne
