View Full Version : Small constant regen?

I'm hoping someone can explain what is up with my car.

Since Monday the SoC has been full or at most, one bar from full. However I'm seeing a more or less constant single green bar of charge while driving on the freeway, while steadily pressing the gas. Why would it be trying to force a charge if the SoC's full?

The only other time I've observed this was when using cruise control. I also thought maybe it was because most of this week's driving I've had headlights, radio and sometimes wipers on, but yesterday I had no gadgets on and still saw it.

I assume this slight regen is affecting my mileage because my trip odometer mpg is slooooow to rise even though the iFCD is at 75-100mpg for long periods. So it's been a struggle to break 50mpg on each trip this week. This morning I finally broke 60mpg again, and did not see the single charge line so I assume there is a cause and effect here.

how many miles on your car? Hondas are known to go through 'recalibration' intervals for the battery now and again, but those are quick- 30 seconds or so while driving, and you see the SoC jump around, then some levle of regen for a few minutes afterwards.

This dosn't sound like a recal, as on the HAH or HCH-I, though.

Tarabell;

My HCH II almost always has at least the one-Bar showing. If I am on the Gas pedal or when letting the car coast with foot off the gas pedal. I think the HCH II electronics works different than the HCH I. I believe Honda is making sure that owners don't Burn out the Battery Pack to soon. So Honda through the Computers is making sure for us, if you will. This is just what I have noticed with my car. I had the 1st Yr. HCH I, 2003, and one of the reasons I traded it off, was because I could not keep the Battery Pack Charged. I do-not see this being a concern with the HCH II and the way Honda has the Computers controlling the Soc. This is just my opinion, not based on something I read or anything set in Stone. Just my Opinion. :)

I have about 3500 miles on it. Have never observed a "recal" or the SoC jumping around or anything like that. Just wondered if this single charge bar was normal as I've never noticed it happening before this week. I'm used to seeing regen only when coasting or braking. Probably means nothing or that I should stop staring at it. :rolleyes:
