Others have gotten the message about high fuel costs, too. (http://www.indianasnewscenter.com/Story.aspx?type=ln&NStoryID=6168)

High gas prices are sending sales of hybrid automobiles through the roof in Fort Wayne and across the country. In the past three weeks Bob Rohrman Toyota-Lexus at the Fort Wayne Auto Mall has sold more than thirty hybrid Toyotas off the lot.

When the hybrids were introduced a couple of years ago their sales rose and fell with gas prices. But now car buyers think high gas prices are here to stay. “They don't know if they're gonna come down again,” says Toyota salesman Mike Lefler. “They don't ever think they'll see two dollar gas again that's the biggest comment I hear. So what you gonna do about it? Gonna buy a hybrid, and that's what they do” … http://www.indianasnewscenter.com/Story.aspx?type=ln&NStoryID=6168

Maybe over at Ford, they'll possibly think about asking someone what it would take to concievably prepare for the idea to feasibly make a commercial advertising the FEH to the American public perhaps in the next 3 years or so.

Well they need to build something that they can push first. Concepts are basically vaporware.

Put two more on my list of interested parties. One, a college buddy who took mine for a nice, long spin on Saturday. Said he was sold if his current car starts giving him trouble again. And a coworker who walked into my cube ~15 minutes ago to find out if I liked it. Sounded like he wanted confirmation that a) it isn't drag limited to 55mph and b) is beyond the quality expectations normally associated with the likes of Yugo. He sounded pretty serious about "picking one up" and was pleased that I didn't pay through the nose for mine, either.

This is great. :)

I've run into this misconception too. I point out that hybrids have reasonable zip but that many (well, at least SOME) hybrid drivers drive them gently and at modest speeds to get better mileage, so that tends to give the mistaken impression that they have no power. And most people get it.
