We are now a two hybrid family!!! I take delivery of a new HCHII tomorrow. I drove a used Prius earlier today. I didn't have my trade vehicle with me. I drove home quickly in my Insight(@79mpg). On the way I called a Toyota dealership and they would be closed. I called a Honda salesman I had talked to last night and they would be open. I drove the truck there. After and hours negotiation, I received a very good trade-in allowance and will be picking up a Magnetic Pearl HCHII tomorrow if my son gets the original radio reinstalled in the Frontier tomorrow.

Our carbon footprint has reduced some more!!!! :smilingface (52):

Hi Msirach:

___What is going on around here? Tim’s GF picks up a Prius II, Larry picks one up and now you pick up an HCH-II as a second Hybrid ? I am beginning to feel like a dinosaur around these parts as of late :D

___Congratulations on the purchase and with the downstate roads you have access to, I can bet she will be pulling numbers that might just embarrass your Insight every once in a while ;)

___Good Luck and I hope the wife likes her new car as much as I do …

___Wayne

It may be a fight. My son is home for the summer from The University of Virginia. A first year student can't have a car there. Before he came home, he said he didn't need a car there next year either. I hope he remembers that. It is going to be his daily driver this summer to a summer job locally and to an internship at a media company 40 miles away. I plan on taking them out this week-end and doing a hybrid orientation. I will have to do this carefully and coax them into the thrill of their next mpg record. I hope it loosens up a little more. I drove it on a 5 mile test run and only returned about 42 mpg. The Prius I drove earlier on a 10 mile drive and finished with a 67.9. It would have been much better but I left with the battery charge at 1 bar. It was at a Chevy dealer and they said it hadn't been driven in a couple of weeks. It has 31000 miles. I think it could be bought for a good price since they had it advertised on Autotrader at $19300. Others in the area at comparable mileage were $24999.

OOps, I'm getting off topic. Good night!

Oh yeah! I told my wife she should take her car to the Toyota dealer tomorrow and trade it in on a Prius that a salesman emailed me about. My son just told me she is considering it!!:Banane54:

Congratulations, your son and wife will love the HCH! In fact she may decide she prefers it over the Prius if she gets a chance in it. Of course I'm biased. ;)

You may be right Tarabell.
I think my wife may be hooked. We were waiting on the paperwork (American Honda Financing 2.9%) and was talking about the potential when driven correctly. She said,"I'm not changing my driving! It's just a car" She insisted on driving it home. I started to try to tell her to watch the fcd. She started getting irate. Then I noticed the trip mileage climbing and I complemented her since it was at 44mpg. I could see her eyes open in amazement. SAhe started watching the fcd and the mileage continued to improve. I think #3 may be on the agenda by Saturday! :Banane54:It was a 20 mile trip home and she ended up at 50.2. SHE"S HOOKED!!!!

I took it to the station to top the tank off. They had actually filled it. It only took 1.037 gallons. I checked the tires. 31psi front, 30 psi in the rear. It took me over 15 minutes at a BP station to get all 4 to 50 PSI. The 1.5 mile trip home was much easier to achieve a decent glide.
I'm driving it to work tomorrow to test it on my daily commute. So far, so good!:Banane41:

I probably need to email that to my son. He sent me a text today that he only got 452 miles "lame" (43.7mpg) before the low gas light came on.

Yes, I also think he should be able to top that MPG. Good luck!
