i rarely watch TV, so maybe this is not so new. however, i turned on the box to watch ER last night, and noticed at least three car commericials bragging about the mileage their vehicles get. i think one was chrysler, another ford.....as i watched it dawned on me that instead of talking about power and speed, it was actually MPG. quite a change i direction, i think.
also, i have an interview today with someone from AP about driving habits. apparently he was reading an article somewhere about gas prices that mentioned hypermiling. he googled it and found greenhybrid.com. since he is based in minneapolis, he saw that i was in minnesota and asked if i would be available for an interview. i said yes, and a reporter and photographer will be here at 10. hopefully they can get something from the owner of the company, since he drives a highlander hybrid.......

Best of luck on the interview. :)
If the Insight was still selling, I'd have Honda to get "Smiling Bob" of Enzyte fame (see my avitar) to be on the ad. This would be a "hybrid" of a green commercial and "Restore you Manhood". :p

Nissan is doing the same thing. Saw an ad for Versas last night. Refreshing change from the power ads.

Laurie how exciting, can't wait to see this. Bet you can show them some amazing numbers as you have those nice quiet Teddy-girl type of back roads to drive.

That's awesome news, Laurie!! :flag:
Let us know where we can see that article, okay?
Still hoping for a personal demo one of these days.

thanks, all. i think it should come up some time next week. i spent an hour talking and driving with them, and they said they have more interviews to do. they also talked to our company owner who drives a highlander hybrid. while i am into the mileage, a large part of his concern is environmental, so i think it was a good blend.
teddy-girl :) that's a good one. they asked if i took the backroads home just for the hypermiling, or the scenery. i said both, i really prefer the woods and fields to the road. and it's a lot easier when you don't have to worry about someone running up your back end.

I always get a laugh whenever one of those car commercials brags about their "high fuel mileage car" and quotes a mileage of 34 or even 40mpg. The way my car is configured now, I can't even get my mileage down to 50mpg, even when I speed or drive with a lead foot.
Hi Laurie:
___Congrats on the interview and I know it will turn out great! Let us know where it appears and we will do the “News” on it ;) Did they take some nice photos we were talking about the other day?
___As for the direction of car ads, you can put lipstick on a pig but you still have a pig :( The domestics don’t get it and it is far too late to promote their current lineup’s FE given what Toyota and Honda offer …
___Good Luck
