SATURN VUE GREEN LINE

2.4-liter four cyclinder engine mated to an electric motor/generator, with a nickel-metal-hydride battery pack. Less complex, lower-cost hybrid system. Promises 27 mpg city, 32 mpg highway. Coming this summer, priced at less than $23,000.

The hybrid system is hardly groundbreaking__it essentially uses a belt alternator/starter and batteries to assist the gasoline engine and shut it off at stoplights__but it is cheaper to make than the Toyota/Ford approach, giving GM a cost advantage over the Ford Escape hybrid.

I'm not buying the hype. Whats the regular VUE get for mileage? If its only 5mpg or so I would bet better driving would make more of a difference than the hybrid system.

I think is going to be a (Wait) and see thing. I work with a Lady that her Husband works on the line where the Hybrid Saturn vue is produced and it is going to be interesting to see how this turns out.

i like how when you put your foot of the accelerator, the engine stops delivering fuel (ala zero glide mode!) ... now how the hell do we cancel out the regen part....?

HMMMM a HCH II or this for the same price.............. ok I DON"T need a suv but i sometimes like the roomynes of it (family friends, more impact weight, high driving position, cargo transport)? I wonder if this car you can abuse the starter hmmm... hahaha

**** but i hate suv.. so hard to park :(
