Just got our very own FEH. Less than 100 miles on it, but I'm already experimenting with techniques described by GaryG, Wayne, and others. My first test drive on a 16 mi hwy loop gave me 33mpg at 55mph, and 28mpg at 70mph. A little trip around town late in the evening when traffic was no problem netted 48mpg on a round trip. Can I say I'm happy? :) I haven't checked tire pressures, or mastered using low gear to charge the battery faster than the generator (to allow going to electric sooner), or learned to effectively coast in Neutral, but I'm working in those directions. Thank you to all of you who post here who have shared your experiences with all the various hybrids; you have made getting OUR hybrid a LOT more fun than it would have been.

Niiice! And think, these numbers will be your baseline. They are only going up from there.
Hi Lyser:
___Oh boy are you going to have fun ;)
___Congrats on the great new ride! If you are going to drive an SUV, there is none better on the planet by far imho. To bad my wife isn’t driving one herself :( Get those tires pressed up and hopefully by mid-summer after her first oil change, some miles on her and the tires are scrubbed, you might see a few 50’s or more interspersed in and amongst your daily grind :)
___I am sure quite a few FEH owners have questions for you about the ICE-On and ICE-Off transitions and increased FE potential once you get used to her in a few weeks.
___Good Luck

Thanks for the encouragement. I'll be glad to report back any and all info that may be of interest. So far, the engine kicks on anywhere between 20-40 mph depending on a host of variables (road incline, accelerator position....duh!). Yeh, give me a week or so and some questions to focus my investigation and I'll let y'all know what haps. By the way, would anyone be interested in solving the "Mystery of no-start following rustproofing on the second day of ownership?" It's a somewhat amusing story...if you've a warped sense of humor :)
Hi Lyser:
___That rust proofing story sounds like a wonderful intro for either a future “Ride of the week” or at least another dedicated thread in the Introduction or Ford forums ;)
___Good Luck and welcome to CleanMPG.
