View Full Version : FE Program Rhythm

After I found the acceleration rate that gives me good fuel efficiency (FE) and then, the best mode for gliding (thanks to xcel), things really started to come together. After developing the fake shift, next came the task to master the use. For the first time in my life, I got to watch another hypermiler (xcel) try his tricks in my FEH to increase FE. If any of you ever get the chance like I did, take it! Sure, we have different driving styles, but you get to see things that make you change your way of thinking. Watching xcel play with the fake shift from the passenger sit, he was getting excited (I think from his reaction) with results of ways to increase EV distance with just one good fake shift.

Things have rapidly changed these past ten days for the better. After going out and breaking my record on FE driving the same roads and speeds in the past, everyday now reveals new records. My tank averages are getting near 50mpg and growing. My trip averages have grown also on all roads and speeds up to 45mph. A jump to 68mpg for 9 miles is a new record for me in the FEH now.

Of course, this style of driving is my own and fits my daily commute. The reasons I bought the FEH was because it fit my life style and city driving needs.

It now seems to all come together and I’ve got my program pumping out great numbers consistently. The rhythm and repeated program is the key. Also, I just found a new solution to a problem even xcel had going EV. It appears that after there is an overheat code which prevents regen (“L”) causing ICE shut down, it will continue until the key is turned off and restarted. The code must reset with a reboot of the computer.

Has anyone else found or looking for the right program for your vehicle and driving style? Once you find it, happy days are here to stay.

Hi Gary:

___Excited would be an understatement! That one fake shift on an absolutely flat battery for a block and a half resulting in an ~ ½ mile EV/Glide blew me away! Keep pushing as I can now see a 70 mpg segment from you in just a few days.

___On another note, I had a little run in with some of the YaHoo Escape HEV members today about RR. I hope they take your FE saving techniques as seriously as I do because they are worth absolute GOLD! I chuckle a bit when I see the recurring statement. “I won’t for a few mpg’s …”. Going from 30 - 50 + mpg’s is not just a few mpg’s in my book ;)

___Good Luck

Hi Wayne:

Yes, I saw the post and those kinds of responses are the norm there. When you try to help a group, there are members who side with others who if given the chance, will put whatever you say in the trash. The RR is a great tip that works for me, and I thank you for that. There are some good people that still post there and GH, so I try to let them know about CleanMPG.com if they want to read about progress. This is a healthy forum to learn from and I intend to help spread the word. If I don’t give them something (tips) for the site, owner/managers may block my post. So far, GH has left my post alone when I refer to this site.

As far as 70mpg, I’m getting closer. Still need to fine tune my rhythm with the fake shift, but the problem of going EV in “L” is getting much better now. If I were to estimate where I’m at with the limits of the FEH, I’d say around 87% in traffic. God knows what this thing can do on a track by itself.

Hi Gary;

Hey "Great-Story" and I know already from 1st hand that what you are saying about "xcel" and his FE Talent. He displayed some of it here in Franklin, TN. on his way to meeting up with you all in Florida. You are correct in your comments. (IMHO) :)

I have I think kinda an interesting, short story to share this evening myself regarding FE. You can read it over in the "Honda" Forum.
