___Great safety video (http://www.enerdel.com/content/view/104/87/#safety) of a std. 18650 and 26650 std. Li-Ion cel as well as an EnerDel Li-Ion cel being penetrated at 110% SoC by a nail. For the naysayer’s anyway. Of course these are EnerDel's own vids so there was a bit more control then one would normally expect but it gives a good overview of what happens to a fully charged commercial grade Li-Ion Cel and an HEV specific Li-Ion cel when they transition into a thermal runaway condition via internal short. I think we know which we would like to have in our own trunk or back seats ;)

Three types of cells:

1) Standard 18650 lithium ion cell
2) 26650 commercial lithium ion cell
3) EnerDel high power lithium ion cell


Each of these cells are subjected to the identical test conditions.
Cell is first charge to 110% SOC (state of charge).
Then nail penetrates the cell.
