June, she'll not change her tune. Japanese manufacturing is getting back up to speed, but the delivery delay and back order lag means normality won't resume for the customer until fall.

The 1, 2, 3 was the same as last month. The Cruze again beat out the new Focus for the top spot, with the Elantra in 3rd (although if Hyundai had more manufacturing capacity I suspect they could sell more).

You might look at the Focus sales and wonder if Ford are disappointed that they couldn't outsell the Cruze. Well, maybe, but there are sales and then there's profit. And of course, there's the Fiesta, the top selling efficient subcompact.

Meanwhile, the Prius has reached its nadir. (Surely?) Only 4,340 Priuses were sold in June. That's the lowest number of sales since September 2004. Yet the Prius was still the top-selling hybrid.

Nissan sold 1,708 LEAFs. Last month, the LEAF was the 2nd best selling electrified vehicle in the USA. Last month, the LEAF was the 2nd best selling electrified vehicle in the USA. (I just wanted to make sure you got that.)
GM sold 561 Volts. It's now not even close (just like the price and probably because of the price).

Since June was more of the same, even if it's an unusual same, let's look down the table and shed a crocodile tear for ...

2011 Chevrolet Aveo - Starts under $12,000, but a model with AT+AC+CC is over $16,000*

http://www.cleanmpg.com/photos/data/501/11_ch_aveos_ovr_ext_1_310.jpegIt's a subcompact. It's available as a sedan or a hatchback (GM prefers "big-thinking car").

It's not particularly efficient, it has poor safety ratings and auto journalists loathe it.

On the plus side, it's cheap**.. Consumer Reports thinks that it's OK for a subcompact and the manual has tall gearing to help efficiency at higher speeds (so auto journalists hate it).

The Chevrolet Aveo was first built in 2002, but wasn't sold in the USA until late 2003. It is built in Korea, originally by Daewoo but now by other Korean GM affiliates.

Although it has a somewhat negative reputation, sales were reasonable for a subcompact with sales of 68,000 in 2005 (the Aveo was updated that year) and 67,000 in 2007. Sales dropped with the recession and have never recovered, having lost the budget market to the Nissan Versa and higher-priced market to the Honda Fit. While the subcompact market is growing once again, the Aveo can't compete.

The Aveo is dead, ...

* Really?
** Or it can be: the base model with MT can be had with a $1500 discount right now.

INATM, thanks for pulling this together.

Kudos to Cruze, Focus, Elantra, Leaf.

If I knew what was good for me, I should probably sell the '10 Prius before supply returns, then get a '12 or '12 PHV in a few months. But I won't act.

I'm hearing about 100 units for Volt in July. Curious to see how it does when '12's available.
