Just bits and pieces here, but 5% of the CO2 emissions are from shipping - avaition is just 2%. Ships have increased in efficiency, but some are considering using wind power to at least augment the power.

Ive always wanted to put a sail on the car. Closeist I ever got was leaving a hatch up. Problem was once you started going faster than the tail wind you encountered more drag.

The kite idea sounds good.
