Numbers are in and... not surprised at all, had some good days and some bad days... hope this next tank yield better results... 698 miles (odo) 15.3 gallons used for a good 45.62 miles per or 17% over combined EPA... was hoping for at least 25% over EPA, but those numbers are not bad either at all...:):o:cool:

Hi SD3 Driver:

Most excellent :flag:

currently on the second tank, with 1/4 remaining and 585 miles driven... that is roughly 44 mpgs.... including my first 70 mpg segment (6.3 miles, .09 gals) and the worst yet ( 6.3 miles, .18 gals) or about 35 mpgs... hope to get at least 700 miles off this one...

Second tank is in, 737 miles 15.6 gals used 47.24 mpg.... happy with this one, my initial DTE was 716 and i got 20 over it but that kilo tank looks far far away and difficult to achieve... DTE as of today 806 miles :):):)

421 miles on "half tank" for an avg of 48.11, the best so far....:-)

Just over 700 miles on this tank with 100 dte, don't know when this tank went south I was expecting at least 820 and with this numbers I don't think I will reach 800 :(:(:(

Next tank is in, 774 miles, 15.59 gallons for 49.65 MPG,:-) my best so far, but had to work a little hard to stay within the numbers... initial mte of 846 miles, so I hope to get over 800 miles on this tank... :-)

Hmmm, going to my hometown (for a little vac time, thank God) last monday, the low press tire tire light came on and i was for a little surprised, the press readingns were 26,26,26,25... a bit low, and got 51mpg for 71 miles, now are up to 38 psi and can't wait to see if any difference...:)

I think the TPM goes off st 25 % under the door sill inflation number of 33 psi. so the 25 reading probably did it. Why were they so low? If you are in SJU I don't think you had a cold weather snap. In the 70's I rented a condo near Luquillo a few times and always enjoyed PR.

That is why I was surprised, I checked the tire press like 5 weeks earlier and they were on 32psi, so I don't understand how I went down 6psi in a month with temps in the low to mid 80's. This last tank went sour in the last month (I think), so maybe this was the probable cause..:(:D

Another tank in, and still the same thing... 769 miles on 15.69 gallons for 49 MPG... is my second best, but again short of 800 miles, failing again by 100 miles ( per initial dte)... dte now is 875 miles. And I thought 800 was piece of cake.... now 1000 seems mission impossible..

Remember that the platform of the FFH was not designed as a hybrid like the Prius and Insight. It's heavy and it's Cd is not state of the art. The 81 mpg demo was done at 22 mph average speed. You're doing very well.

Yes, it is surprising that my srt4 got a better drag coefficient than the fusion. Anyone knows the record for a tank (besides the 1000 challenge), and, do the tank really hold 17.5 gallons? As far as I remember the most I have filled my tank is like 15.9 to 16 gallons.:confused:

If you try to fill it much past the first gas pump auto shut-off, it just runs on the ground unlike the HSH where Wayne was able to get several more gallons into the expansion space. The miles to empty is to about 1 gallon remaining. That math usually works out to 16.5 gals.

Agreed, don't forget that John Q. Public does dumb things more often than we'd like to admit...so they seem to build a healthy safety net into your fuel gauge readings.

I fill up between 30 to 20 MTE, so after all, it seems consistent with fills between 15 and 16 gallons

I wouldn't mind trying for a record distance in our FFH but it is my wife's car and there is no way I'm getting my hands on it long enough to accomplish anything. :p

I feel that pain. I haven't gotten a whole tank to myself in anything for months save for the Harley.

Hi SD3 Driver:

An almost 50 mpg average in the FFH is doing quite well for a vehicle rated at 39 mpgUS combined. And I bet you get better as time moves on as well!

One of the best features besides the excellent SmartGauge with EcoGuide displays was its truly luxury quiet road manners while under way and the very comfortable driver seat.

SGII numbers are telling me that this tank will finally break the 50mpg tank avg. and the 800 mile mark, been very consistent with 53 to 54 avg as of today, but for some reason I have had to work a bit harder to stay within the numbers I'm looking.... got to check tire press...

I'm surprised you keep your tire pressures so low. 50 mpg in the San Juan area traffic is very impressive!

Low??????? I keep em @38 PS I cause the roads down here are crap, and I paid $1500 to get a new front axel for the SRT4 running on 42psi... checked yesterday and were @37psi but I will go up to 40psi this week...:D:D:Banane37:

Hi SD3 Driver:

The HCH-II is far better built than an SRT4. You are far more likely to pinch a tire and ruin a rim than ever break an axle.

Welcome to the care free ways of owning a Honda ;)

Well, the axel broke because of wheel hop and all that stuff related to high torque engines... but the other pieces of the suspension were affected by the combo of bad, really bad road conditions and wheels high pSi. and also that it was design as a "sport" "hard" suspension, so with the road conds it was facing, it was a matter of time.... but everything is OK now and I'm having fun driving both :D

Another in 739 miles, 14.75 gals 50.10 mpgs... surprising, never went under 52mpgs as per the SGII but the final numbers were 2 mpgs under...

Hmmm, anyone having problems with keeping the tires PS I????? Last fill up was also a good time to get that PS I up to 40, but after only 14 days are down to 37 ( don't know if it makes a diff. but I did try nitrogen instead of an air compressor)... I did notice a difference so I knew something was not right and was surpirsed with that loss in two weeks. From a 57avg. the first week to about a 52 last week and the glides were a bit shorter than usual... checked for leaks and found none so I'm a bit confused :confused:... oh, I forgot, the tires are Michelin Energy...

I set mine to 40 and after a while they are down to 38. The air compressor may heat the air up and when it cools down you have a little lower psi than you thought. A 1 psi loss per month is also mentioned here:

Well, time to get those tires psi up again, up to 40 again and there were down to 31... maybe that nitrogen was not a good idea at all :( also checked the tread wear and all tires are @ 9/32 from oem 10/32 that means 1/32 loss for every 4,000 miles or 32,000 miles of tread life... i'm going for at least 50,000 miles...:)
