Hi,

I have been considering getting rid of my older Acura MDX and getting a Mini Cooper -Countryman.

Has anyone out there had any experience with this new Mini?

I like the idea of the AWD , however the price point is kind of putting me off a bit.

Wondering if it is worth it.

Can anyone comment?

Thanks,

Alex

Hi Alex:

The wife drives an MDX and while well appointed and comfortable, it sucks fuel like a sailor on his first 3-days of leave.

The few times I have driven the Mini, I can say it handles better than any of the micro’s and B-Segment vehicles out there, the ride was rough. It is practically a short wheel base trait.

For the cost, I would consider a loaded up Focus Titanium as the handling is close, the ride is much better, the creature comforts, safety and even FE are better.

Mini’s are fun to drive but after a year behind the wheel, you might come to realize they ride to much rougher than then your MDX that you may in fact consider another vehicle if you have a lengthy commute.

Good Luck with whichever vehicle you end up with. With that large a budget, the world is an oyster :)
